The old one lasted 25 years
The old pump lasted 25 years, I finally cleaned the sump pit and apparently the 1"+ of scum I took off the old pump *may* have contributed to it's seal failure. I purchased this one hoping it would be just as good, It's the exact same model. It will probably outlast the house.

Worth the Money
Plumber was going to charge $1700 to replace my sewage ejection pump. Did a little research, found this direct replacement, original lasted almost 20 years, and did the job myself for less than $300 total. Not the most pleasant job but very doable for most DIYers...

Proven the Test of Time
I just removed one of these beasts from a post septic tank lift station after about 8 years of reliable service. The pump did not gain a five star rating since the seals failed rather than the pump or motor itself. A seal somewhere, most likely the motor shaft seal, failed letting water completely fill the motor cavity which of course caused an electrical short thus tripping the electrical breaker. The lift ring was buried under a crust of black crude. When exposed, the ring broke away from the pump as the cast iron had eroded to the point where the lift ring simply pulled through. The impeller and pump housing were still in decent shape despite the corrosion on the upper surface. Water had entered under the electrical plug going to the pump but most likely it entered from inside when the motor housing flooded. The dongle level switch was still fully functional and salvaged for a spare. If you are in need for a good sewage pump, this one should do you well. The upper lip of the threaded connection sits about 6.5" above the floor and is 2" FPT. The pump costs a little over $300 but worth it. Keep the cord and other items away from float switch to allow it to work properly. I've designed many a water system with pumps from various manufacturers and always have liked Flotec (Sta-rite) pumps as a reliable and economical choice. Best of luck.
