Little Michigan: A Nostalgic Look at Michigan’s Smallest Towns (Tiny Towns)

I had the privilege of accompanying the author when she visited many of the towns in her book to do her photography and research. After seeing these towns in person, it is amazing to me to read how Kathryn captured the essence of each town as they existed in their past heyday as well as how they evolved into the town we see before us today. The book is an entertaining trip through the many small towns that give character to our state. As you travel throughout Michigan, take a moment to detour through some of these towns, read their stories in her book and imagine what it would have been like to live there when they were thriving small towns. These towns are not ghosts of the past, but rather are the forebears of our present.

The author did a lot of research and this book will inform about history and physical feature of many of Michigan's out of the way towns. I found it very interesting and a source of inspiration for some future road trips.

I keep Little Michigan by on bedside table, and every few nights I love to pick it up and read about two or three towns I've never heard of. It's all so interesting. I love the history, reading about the people, and hearing how the town is doing today. Each time I put it down I make a mental note to make sure I pass through one or two of the cities I read about. Very relaxing, makes the day melt away.

I was very excited about this book purchase. However, not all of the information is correct. When I showed this book to a friend from Hersey, he pointed out that the wrong county is listed for this small town. I don’t know how something that basic could be written by the author and missed by the editor.
