Professional Review Guide for the CCS Examinations, 2015 Edition (with Quizzing Printed Access Card) 1st Edition

I am so happy that I found this book because it helped me a lot in passing my CCS test. The exercises are good especially the coding part in multiple choice. The only problem is that no good explanation why the answer is chosen compared to others. Mostly I researched myself from coding clinic to understand well. Overall this book helped me to pass my test even there are a lot of flaws in it because it is updated.

First 60 pages are jam-packed with the essential high points of ICD diagnosis and CPT. Also a good overview of the differences between inpatient and outpatient coding. Best to follow along closely with your coding books, with a focus on the guidelines. The entire rest of the book is questions...with answers and rationales. Good rationales, not just canned ones that repeat over and over. Two mock exams at the end with an option to take them online just as you would take the CCS.

I love the Professional Review Guides by Patricia Schnering. I couldn't have passed the CCS exam without it. This guide helped me pass the CCS exam before the ICD 10 transition, obviously. I'm sure the latest edition will help future exam takers to pass the new version of the test.

I am using this guide to study for the ICD-9 CCS exam. It's a good one with lots of multiple choice questions and mock exams. Also a copy of the official guidelines for review. I would recommend this book.

I took the CCS prep class and this was the required book. I did not pass the CCS, the multiple choice questions are NOTHING like the AHIMA CCS. Take an AHIMA prep course. Waste of money on this book and the class. The CCS book is EXACT to CCA book multiple choice questions. Had to put a star to write a review.

This book is amazing. First I passed my CCA then a few months later passed my CCS! Great study guide.

Don’t waste your money or time. Not very helpful. Covers coding basics and not a whole lot of relevant information for this particular credential.
