Hours of fun
I bought these for my 7 year old granddaughter for Christmas to replace the Wikki Sticks that she got the previous year that were pretty much wore out. She loved them and wanted more. Since these were a better deal than the Wikki sticks at the time, I got these. They were wonderful and just like the wikki sticks. She said so. They were easy for her to work with and stayed they way she put them. She could also (carefully) handle her creations. She loves playing with these and just makes things out of her own imagination as opposed to copying pictures. I am going to try to download a picture of several things she made in one afternoon of play. As for durability, I gave them 5 stars as well even though they do lose their stickiness eventually. This is to be expected, especially when one has 2 cats and a dog. I do have 2 additional sets tucked away for when she needs more. I don't know why others had such a problem with these. I think they work just as they are suppose to and are lots of fun. They bend easily, stick to themselves and each other and anything else you want to stick them to and stay stuck. They also stick to her closet door and she loves decorating it with these. My 4 year old grandson also enjoys playing with these and is getting better and better at making things with them. He learns as he goes. If one thing doesn't work, he tries a different way. Good for his imagination and to practice problem solving. Both of my grandchildren can spend hours (quietly) playing with these. I highly recommend them.

GREAT fun - beware of surface damage
My 7-year-old HAD to have these and she has spent countless hours molding, bending and enjoying her Bendaroos. The texture of them is a little "greasy" best described as "waxy molding clay on a string" but not too messy on the hands. They stick together well - she even created a "rope" by connecting them end to end and it now dangles from our 2nd story balcony to the living room area. She sends things down to us attached to the rope when she's playing upstairs. I've had fun making things out of them myself. Those are the highlights. Now the lowlights:She has mostly stuck them to the walls in her room. I kept checking underneath to make sure they weren't damaging the slightly textured and painted walls and at first - no problem. HOWEVER, we let her declare one of her walls a "Bendaroo wall" so she could leave and admire her designs. A couple weeks later, there was a visible "greasy spot" underneath some of the bendaroos. No bid deal, I thought - we have touch up paint. Then I realized they were actually removing some of the paint when you move them. It's a new house, the paint is about a year old. The ones she had on her bedroom door also removed part of the paint.Additionally, my daughter discovered that they make a real mess of glass and mirrors. Again, kind of like a greasy residue. We've gotten a couple stuck in the carpet but have managed to remove them easily.Overall, my daughters (7 and 5) both love Bendaroos. Just supervise the placement of them.

The Product Works As It Says It Will - Just Not a Fan
So, the product works just fine. They stick together, stick to the wall, have not stained anything, and you can make shapes and letters, and overall it does what you intend for it to do. I think, however, that my expectations of how I would use them have not held up. I would rather use playdough or clay for things like that. I do think, however, that with the cards, that other companies offer with their waxy sticks, you can make letters and numbers, and for that reason I think they would make a good education tool. They do not include them with this set, which is unfortunate. I think if they were marketed with those cards the product would sell better ;) My son has other ways of learning and he just is not interested in making letters and numbers with them. I have tried that with him before using pipe cleaners. He has already mastered letters, lower and upper, and he counts really high. We are working on the transition in counting to 30, 40, 50, 60 … 100. He gets to 29 and says 20 10, same for 30… He needs reminded then he starts his count again. Love it! We will get there, he just turned 3 ; ) lol I do think, however, that some children would really benifit from the hands on approach to constructing the letters and numbers you are trying to teach them. Although these may not work for us, I will keep them for the time when I have my own classroom and use them in a center activity.

Great for my three year old grandsons
I ordered these when they were on sale for $7.00.They have been worth every penny. They kept my three year old grandson and half the hospital staff occupied on a recent visit with a family member.I never saw the televisions advertisement so I had no prior expectations. I did read the reviews and knew to bend them before using them to promote the stickiness. My grandson enjoy the bending process. :)They stick to everything here. wallpaper, stainless steel appliances, windows, car doors and windows, Grandma's arms and yes even to each other.Ours came in a colorful box not a brown package as some described. I took pictures but cannot add them to this review. I have to wonder if all the negative reviews are not actually for another product.I know if people are surfing the net and using the Amazon toolbar they sometimes put reviews for the wrong product when it asks them, "Is this the same product?". Amazon needs better review processes of reviews coming from the toolbar.I would recommend this for children 3 and up because the box says for 3+ but my two year old neighbor also plays with them with us with no problem as it is with supervision.
