I needed this on a bad day. Check out the 3 actors. What a brew crew!

Such a captivating and unconventional ride that explores the free-spirited life of its main character, played brilliantly by Matthew McConaughey. It's a colorful and vibrant film that showcases the beauty of the beach lifestyle while also delving into deeper themes of self-discovery and creativity. With its unique storytelling and charismatic performances, "Beach Bum" is definitely worth a watch for those looking for something different and refreshing.

Matthew Mc really outdid himself in this movie. Snoop Dogg was the perfect addition to the cast. I was ROTFLMFAO through the movie.

All the way to the end, I waited for this movie to deliver some resolution or satisfaction or deeper goodness. There were lots of boobs, weed and obnoxious laughter, interspersed with some mediocre, questionably relevant sort-of poetry snippets that failed to redeem the film. We were so excited for this movie, but when it ended, we agreed it had been a waste of time and money.

So, those of you expecting some sort of plot driven comedy caper(like The Big Lebowski)will be sorely disappointed.The Beach Bum isn't that type of film. It's purely character driven, loose and flowing. Loose like his clothes, flowing like the amount of alcohol he pours down his neck.We follow the exploits of a man named Moondog, a dude who writes poetry and spends his life getting obliterated in the Florida Keys, soundtracked to classic Country and Rock songs. The whole film is a tribute, or an ode to excess & hedonism.Wild, yet laid back. This is a film to chill with. It has more depth than you think, but don't take it too seriously. To be perfectly honest I f*****g loved it.

Writer/director Harmony Korine finally follows up his decadent cult hit Spring Breakers (2012) with the ultimate shaggy-dog saga, The Beach Bum. Matthew McConaughey is perfect in a role he seems born to play, as the bedraggled beat poet Moondog, a Dude-like layabout, sophisticated in women’s dress and fanny pack, reciting poems that in real-life were penned by the late great Richard Brautigan.Moondog, a South Florida eccentric, once famous for his verse, now adrift around his beachside town’s many places of ill-repute, smoking weed, guzzling booze, and bedding beautiful women, after all “that’s what feeds the juices up here in my nugget, man.”Aided by a feel-good soundtrack, and fully envisaged by cinematographer Benoît Debie, who makes even Florida’s seediest spots a deliriously colorful trip, The Beach Bum wants you to feel the hedonistic highs along with Moondog. It’s a beaut, especially if you’re space-faced.

Es gibt Filme, die haben keine nennenswerte Handlung. (The) Beach Bum - bei der deutschen Version wurde der Artikel gestrichen - ist so einer. Die Komödie von Harmony Korine (Drehbuch und Regie) kam 2019 raus, und obwohl ich die Handlung als nicht nennenswert bezeichnet habe, gibt es doch eine. Es geht um Moondog (Matthew McConaughey), der einst ein erfolgreicher Schriftsteller war, jetzt aber lieber die Zeit damit verbringt, besoffen und/oder bekifft durch Miami und Key West zu torkeln. Dabei geht es ihm darum, das Leben zu genießen - finanziell ermöglicht wird ihm das durch seine steinreiche Frau Minnie (Isla Fisher). Das Paar ist sich regelmäßig gegenseitig untreu, liebt sich aber dennoch. Doch dann stirbt Minnie unvorhergesehen, und in ihrem Testament hat sie verfügt, dass Moondog nur dann sein Erbe bekommt, wenn er seinen seit Ewigkeiten angekündigten Gedichtband schreibt und veröffentlicht. Bis dahin ist Moondog völlig pleite und lebt auf der Straße - wodurch er sich seine Laune und Lebensweise aber nicht vermiesen lässt.Ein alltäglicher Film ist Beach Bum sicher nicht. So ziemlich jede Figur, der ein bisschen mehr Platz eingeräumt wird, ist völlig schräg - mit Ausnahme von Frank (Joshua Ritter), dem frisch Angetrauten von Moondogs Tocher Heather (Stefanie LaVie Owen). Da Frank aber so normal und langweilig ist, wird er von Moondog und seinem Umfeld nicht akzeptiert. Doch die Story ist eh Nebensache bei Beach Bum. Dreh- und Angelpunkt ist Matthew McConaughey als verrückter und ständig zugedröhnter Künstler, der allen möglichen Blödsinn anstellt. Dass der Schauspieler in dieser Rolle großen Spaß hatte, ist ihm anzusehen. In weiteren Rollen zu sehen sind übrigens unter anderem Snoop Dogg, Martin Lawrence, Zac Efron und Jonah Hill. Ist Beach Bum ein guter Film? Hm, nein, eher nicht, würde ich sagen. Schlecht ist er aber auch nicht - sondern, nun ja, speziell. Irgendwas hat er jedenfalls. Wie Moondog selbst sollte man sich als Zuschauer hier einfach treiben lassen und keinen besonderen Tiefgang erwarten. Dann kann Beach Bum schon Spaß machen. Aber auch nur dann.
