Beautiful Encore: Makeovers for Mature Women Paperback – January 20, 2015

I am giving it a 5 star because I am one of the models in the book. I did not have an opportunity to meet any of the other models or hearabout their stories until I received an advance copy of the book. I wasn't sure if I would find the model's stories interesting enough to keepme reading once I had shown my friends and family my picture in the book. When I sat down to read the stories of these women whotold of their life experience, I could not stop reading. The women come from all walks of life, economic backgrounds, and varied opportunitiesfor careers and travel. Each one has a story, as well as pictures showing the change that can take place when an older woman has herhair cut professionally and uses makeup. One reviewer stated that she wished the women had worn more ordinary clothes for the pictures, and in hindsight, I agree. I am wearingthe dress I wore to my daughter's wedding and chose that because I never get an opportunity to wear my "wedding" dress. The articlesby professionals giving advice on diet, hearing loss, dental care, etc. are all sensible. The article by the plastic surgeon gives optionsother than a facelift if one wants to look a bit better and maybe younger. This book would make an excellent mother's day gift for a mother over 50 or friends who are celebrating their birthdays as older women. The price is right, the photography and presentation are beautiful, and it is an easy and inspiring read.

I agree with other reviewers about the lack of detailed information on how the makeovers were achieved. I did enjoy the stories and photos in the book, however.

Lots of photos of older women who have had makeovers, but few tips or details for you. Some of the other reviews noted that there was mention of plastic surgery, but I loved the photos in the "peak inside" on Amazon so I gave it a try. I actually returned it because it provided no value for me in remaking myself, and was mostly just a picture book. I ordered some other books that a lot of actual "When you go shopping, look for this" and "Doing this gives that effect" - so I kept those books because they were what I was looking for. This book was NOT.

Excellent volume. Models' contributions to life and family are featured. Larger print for the mature woman. Helpful hints for facial rejuvenation, dental concerns, vision concerns, health/exercise/diet concerns...and more! Printed on glossy, upscale paper, full color photographs throughout. Features women over age 50 with their total makeover (makeup, hair, clothing). I read this book over and over.

I thought this book was a waste of money. Lots of profiles of mature women but very little real information.

Looking forward to reading this book!
