The spoon cracked after 2 uses. Low Quality.
I am incredibly disappointed in this product, for a few reasons:1. Upon arriving, the spoon arrived in the plastic bag with what appeared as some kind of food splatter, probably a sauce like marinara (it was red). It grossed me out since there was a high likelihood that it was used and not new as it claimed, but the item said that it was dishwasher safe. Therefore, I washed it in the dishwasher, and it seemed fine after being washed in the dishwasher. (Side Note: Only time it was in the dishwasher)2. After the second time I used the spoon, I realized it was starting to crack/split. I barely even used the spoon for those two times!3. Third time using the spoon, the crack/split deepened. I can fit the tip of my nail in the crack.4. The handle is blocky and uncomfortable, especially for my small hands. It started hurting my hand to cook with it.This product is low quality, and I WOULD NOT recommend it.

3 years later...
We purchased this spoon, and another made of the same material from this same company in 2016. Here we are in 2019 and they've held up beautifully. We throw them in the dishwasher to wash them. No cracks, no splinters. They're my go-to cooking utensils. Will definitely buy more when the time comes.

Joyce versus Helen Chen
First of all I want to address whether to use bamboo or not. The bamboo utensils are MUCH stronger than other wood products. It does not absorb other flavors or stains unless you soak it in dirty water for days.Bamboo doesn't need oiling like other wood products. I have a wooden ladle that is beautiful, but I get tired of cleaning, letting it dry, and then oiling. Oh yea, wood will crack if you don't oil, but I have NEVER had bamboo crack on me. I have used Bamboo, wood, and steel utensils over my 35 years of cooking, and I prefer bamboo. Steel scratches non stick surfaces. Now comes the Helen versus Joyce Chen products. The Joyce Chen products are heavier duty, more comfortable, and more attractive. I want to make an important point here... Compared to other companies, BOTH the Joyce and Helen Chen products are much better. Both are high quality compared to the generic bamboo utensils from other companies!!!!!Happy cooking!Denille

Great Kitchen Tool
My husband ordered this for me after he accidentally splintered my favorite wooden spoon in the blender : ) It is larger than my previous one, but I see that as an advantage now, especially when cooking in a 12" skillet. I use this spoon almost every time I cook, and that is several times a week. Very functional, practical, and economical!

Hmmm a Bamboo Spoon
Looks nice, very light. It is 3 pieces spliced in 2 places. I received some fine splinters on opening the package near the taper between the handle and spoon. The grain is different at this point so a bit over sanded and like fiberglass fibers..For a 9$ spoon, should not get a splinter to use it. The handle is easy to wield, edges are bit sharp. Going to take some use to wear down..with usage the rough edges and splinters should wear off. Going to try it out see how it goes.

Arrived cracked
Arrived promptly but with a crack going through the whole spoon and 3” up the handle. You can see daylight through it if you hold it up to the light. No quality control at all apparently. Also very light weight.

perfect size
Have been searching for a replacement wooden spoon as mine is worn down and this works perfect, right spoon size it was exactly what I have been searching for! Not to thick that its unwieldy its not so thin that it will wear out fast or break. High quality!

Long enough Spoon
When I make up my salsa, I use my largest pot, most all my wooden spoons were too short. This one is plenty long enough with length to spare. Very sturdy, well made.

Not worth the money
I thought this bamboo spoon would be measurably better than what you can get at a dollar store. It's not. After a few weeks of daily use and hand wash, the bamboo fibers are starting to peel off making the surface rough. I'm sure in a few months I'll throw it out in the garbage.

Does the job
We have this bamboo corner spoon for more 1.5 year. We have a ton of cooking spoons/spatulas or various materials (wood, bamboo, silicon etc.). Somehow, everybody always reaches for this spoon. Made the mistake of putting a wooden spoon in the dishwasher - which dried out the wood. So I always wash my bamboo and wooden spatulas/spoons by hand. Try not to use soap. When the oil seep into the bamboo, it would prolong the life of the utensil.Back in 2019, we paid $8ish for it. Price has gone up a lot! Would buy a couple more if the price is right.

Great spoon
It is a great quality bamboo spoon. We have used it daily. It is well made & finished well with smooth edges & resists water & did not fray. It is worth the the $10. The $2 bamboo spoon that the viewers complained about is mass produced with some imperfections & not finished well. You get what you pay for.
