Specifications: Color: White Density: 5.1-13.7LB/cu ft (180-220kg/m3) Applicable Temperature: -328℉ ~ 1202℉(-200℃~ 650℃) Hydrophobicity: Absolute Hydrophobicity (Below 662℉/350℃) Thermal Conductivity: 0.012 - 0.018w/m·k (At 77℉/25℃) Low Temperature Bending: ≤99% Breaking Elongation: 65% Bending Strength: 45KP Compressive Strength: 32N Thickness: 0.118"/0.236"/0.394" (3mm / 6mm / 10mm) Size:1500mm x 500mm Features: Excellent insulation effect The insulation effect is 2-5 times that of traditional insulation materials and has a longer life. Water repellency and fire resistance The overall water-repellent material can effectively prevent moisture from entering the pipeline and the inside of the equipment, and has A1 fire resistance. Reduce insulation thickness The same insulation effect is achieved, and the thickness is only a fraction of the thickness of traditional materials. Convenient construction It is light in weight, easy to cut and sew to adapt to various shapes of pipes and equipment, and it takes less time and labor to install. Excellent Soundproofing Effect Contains miniature cavitation, absorbs sound and reduces sound strength. About Silica Aerogel: Aerogel is a synthetic porous ultralight material derived from a gel, in which the liquid component of the gel has been replaced with a gas. The result is a solid with extremely low density and lowthermal conductivity. Nicknames include frozen smoke, solid smoke, solid air, or blue smoke owing to its translucent nature and the way light scatters in the material. It feels like fragile expanded polystyrene to the touch.

Dusty, and like a sponge
I had such high hopes after reading all about Aerogel. What I needed was a thin waterproof insulation material to like hatch covers for both hot Spanish sunshine and the cold. This stuff is very dusty with a chalk like feeling, no way is it waterproof more like a sponge so will have to line it, both to keep the water out and the dust in. It also feels brittle so not much use anywhere where it can get rubbed, in fact some areas are slightly damaged, most likely during transport. I can still use it but only behind a deck-head lining where it is out of sight. Will update on its insulations performance.
