My New Team (Little Rhino #1)

The Little Rhino books are a great beginner chapter book series, especially for young baseball fans! These books tell the story of a third grader named Ryan (who goes by Rhino) who joins his first little league team. Unfortunately for Rhino, the meanest kid in his grade is also on the team, and he taunts and belittles Rhino and other kids every chance he gets. Readers will see how Rhino reacts and deals with the bullying, and read about some baseball along the way. Each of the Little Rhino books has a lesson and great message. We are on our way to collecting 6 of the books in this series, which are written by Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies.If your child likes these books, he/she may also really enjoy the Baseball Mysteries series by David Kelly.I hope you found my review helpful. As a teacher I am always looking for books for my students, and finding ones that boys will enjoy is always a challenge. I am a huge Phillies fan, and Ryan Howard was such an inspirational player. When I found this series I decided to give it a try, and after reading the first book, I am eager to get the rest of the series for my class. Ryan and his wife did a terrific job with this book.

AR Level 3.7My 3rd grader hates reading but finished this over the summer and liked the story. I bought two copies and kept track of the words he struggled with which worked out SPLENDIDLY because the words kept reappearing in later chapters. The content is really great too as Rhino is a great example of someone who is kind, hard-working, and has good character. I am VERY satisfied with this purchase.

Love, love, love these books! We read the whole series. When is the next set coming? My kids keep asking if there are any more Little Rhino books!

Cute story good quality

Failed to state for what grade level. Illustrations were lack luster and small (B&W). Too much detail for young readers. Fine for 8 year olds & up into baseball. Good team spirit and family values.

My seven year old baseball player loves this book. He is currently re-reading it even though he has other books in his pile he hasn't read yet, which he hasn't done up to this point for books he'd finished.

My 9 year old loves his book. He has several and has plowed through all of them. He has even asked for more! Thanks Ryan. We are big fans of yours!
