Entertaining read
Doidge has created an engaging world across all her series, and the Amplifier books are no exception. Demons and DNA requires no familiarity with the world as a whole, but there are 2 novellas that should be read first to understand what's going on (The Amplifier Protocol and Close to Home). The action here is intense, the characters are likeable, and there's a nice sprinkling of humor throughout the narrative. The MC tends towards Mary Sue status, although she experiences a fair amount of self-doubt, and I didn't love the way the villain was handled. I'd like to see other characters developed more, and I'll be interested to see if the story ends up interacting with others in Doidge's world.

Amazing! Another fantastic start to a new series!
I could not put this book down! I mean that almost literally. I read this in one afternoon while doing housework.Emma is a very different character from other heroines in MCD's adept universe. Socially awkward and emotionally stunted, she can be rather cold and pragmatic. Having been raised by the Collective, bred and trained to be their weapons, she and Christopher live as isolated as possible to avoid detection. After 7 years, Emma's worst fears are realized when Aiden, a sorcerer, is dropped near their town magically drained. Emma is outmaneuvered by Christopher and manipulated into bringing Aiden to their farm so he can recover magically and to wait for the other shoe to drop.If you haven't read the prequel to this book, Amplifier 0 & 0.5, you will want to after reading this. It's definitely not required to enjoy the story, but it will give you a lot more background on Emma and the others from her group. MCD does an excellent job of integrating their past into the current story, but you will get some things that might otherwise seem odd. Filled with unique characters and a fascinating storyline, this book delivers an amazing story from start to finish! I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Enjoy this author, I read and follow her books as they are published.
This is the first book in a new series that takes place in an existing fantasy world where magic fully exists but is generally hidden from the mundane person. Settings are familiar, especially to those in the Northwest American Continent (Seattle to Vancouver). This particular book utilizes a premise that the main characters are a part of a DNA enhancement experiment gone wrong who were trained to be magical fighters, yet after an escape from their creators they are trying to live their new lives in peace. Naturally that peace is disturbed by outside forces lending to a lot of action and suspense. This book does stand on its own, there is no need to begin with the other books of this magical world, however for background I recommend a prequel, "The Amplifier Protocol (Book 0)." That prequel book originally started out as a teaser for her fans, but turned into an excellent book on its own.

A different kind of hero from Meghan Diana Doidge
Emma is eating at the local diner when a drained sorcerer walks in a heads directly to where she is sitting. Aiden Meyers is looking for help because he can't remember what has happened to him recently and hopes that by healing with Emma and Christopher, he can remember. It was a great story and Emma is an compelling heroine, she does quite believe that she is worthy of good things happening to her. She may be my new favorite character in the adept series. On to the next book.

Good continuation of a great universe
I really absolutely adore the adept universe that MCD has created. I think I will always devour whatever she publishes related to it. I love the kick-ass women she writes, and I love the flaws they battle with. Emma is so strong - magically, physically and emotionally – but she’s also scared of only being able to live a life that was planned for her, of never being able to build anything of her own that can be forever. I love watching her journey of letting go of complete control to hope for something more. Compelling and captivating book, as always.

So good.
So good! The author gives us a smart, intelligent, and funny woman and Emma is simply a great protagonist. I can’t wait for the next few books and there had better be more Aiden in it! All of the books by the author are good, by the way. All of them; like good enough to buy and not simply to borrow from the library.

Exciting
I love the somewhat flawed main character. She's superpowerful but fraught with anxiety and doubt...just like most of us. Seriously, this was a very good read. Having read the Amplifier Protocol really helped but one could jump in, I just wouldn't reccomend it. I can't wait to see where the next book goes in this journey!

She does it again.
She does it again. Meghan is one of my favorite authors and I never hesitate to preorder and buy her books. She draws you in the start and leaves you feeling like you are part of the story with the way she weaves her magic through the words. Loved it and cant wait to see how the rest of the story develops!

Amplify you enjoyment and read this book
I really enjoyed this book. The series has interesting characters and the plot is interesting. The whole idea of creating a group of interconnected magical assassin's is interesting and watching their lives after they escape that life is very entertaining. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good read.

Another brilliant series by Meghan. The Amplifier is set in the same world as the dowser (and other spin off) series. If you pay attention you will see characters mentioned from the dowser series.Fantastic first book, I couldn't put it down.Meghan's imagination is incredible. Her stories flow, keep you guessing and are extremely well written.
