PRACTICLE SIZE, ATTRACTIVE AND DEAD-ON ACCURATE/"NON" LUMINESCENT
Purchased SNE042 about 4 weeks ago from WatchPlace on Amazon for $77 with free shipping/handling. Arrived via USPS in 3 business days with accurate tracking. Watch was well packaged in shipping carton and the typical Seiko pillow box. The watch was absolutely new, running and unblemished. Included were several papers and a booklet with all necessary info. They included info with approx. charge times. When fully charged, estimated run time 'til discharge is about 10 mos. Full charge can be achieved by exposure to 9hrs. direct sunlight, 35hrs. "cloudy" sunlight or 120hrs. of fluorescent (30 watts @ 20cm) light---thought these were interesting figures I had not seen before. I have no idea if this info is available on the Seiko website, but suspect not, since most of their answers to consumer questions end with some variation of "take it to your Seiko dealer"....lots of luck with that! This is an attractive, accurate watch. I purchased it as a backup to my SNQ010 for everyday use. Because of its smaller size and Seiko accuracy, it has proven itself more than capable of filling this role. After 4 weeks, it has gained 3 seconds when compared to WWV at Ft. Collins. At the end of this month(April), I will have to make the necessary adjustment for a 30 day month.Measured with a caliper, the thickness is 10mm, not 9. In keeping with the concept of "caveat emptor", in the product description there is the statement: "Luminiscent hands and markers"----be advised, none are luminous. In day to day use, the hands, day/date and dial color are completely useable and attractive. In summary, I am more than satisfied and very pleased with this purchase.

Seiko Solar Watch
I bought this watch as a gift for my husband because he doesn't keep a watch. He's worn this every day since he received it, so it definitely passes in the style department. It is a classic look that works with almost every look he's got, so it looks perfect. As far as wear, my husband is not the most careful guy in the world, and even on his clumsy arm, very few scratches are visible after five months. The plating is still just as perfect as the day that he opened it.My favorite feature about this watch is the ease of use. If you've set a watch in the past, you'll be able to set this. My husband loves solar powered items and this one works perfectly. It's always running, completely hassle free. It's really cool to know that I won't need to wind it or replace the battery. I had some anxiety about the watch getting enough light to power itself, but so far, even synthetic and very low-light conditions haven't stopped it!The price point is awesome for this watch. It's a great deal. I'm a fan of Seiko, since my parents both have Seiko watches that are older than I am! I believe this one will hold up just as well.

Beautiful and Amazing watch
Packaging of the watch was very nice. When I tried on the watch it was too big, so I used a link remover set to take out a few links to fit my hand. Once I finished with that the watch fit nicely. You can just leave it under the sun for a few hours and it will be fully charged. I opened this at night so I didn't have any sun. I used my phone flash to charge it and it worked pretty well, few seconds of it and the watch was running normally. To my amazement, when I stopped my phone it was GLOW IN THE DARK. That really surprised me as I read the reviews on this watch and did not see anything related to glowing in the dark. Although I'm not sure if I messed up the glow in the dark by using my phone to charge it so close up but I can only get the glow in the dark effect if I shine a bright light like my phone flash on it for a few seconds. It looks really amazing when it's glowing and it lasts for around a few minutes before fading away. I tried seeing if it would glow in the dark normally while taking a stroll at night and at times, it did glow a bit but not enough to please me. If it would glow normally it'd be more of an amazing watch than it already is, but it wasn't within my expectation so it's not too bad. I purchased this through WatchZone.

Diverse Watch at a Great Price
This watch was such a great investment and I couldn't be happier with it! I was originally looking at various kinetic watches from Casio G-Shock to Citizen, but this one kept drawing me back for its look and price. Seiko makes amazing watches to begin with, but they went one step further into awesomeness by cutting out the need for a battery. This is a very diverse watch which you can easily wear with some jeans and a tee, or dressed up fancy in a suit and tie. Setting the time and date are simple enough on their own, but the watch also comes with instructions for ease of use. The owner's manual also comes with the watch in the box and the watch itself even begins to work as soon as some light hits the face.I never really did figure out an exact time as to how long it takes to give this thing a full charge, but I put it on my desk for an hour with office lights and a little sun and I was charged and ready to go in about an hour. According to the manual, this thing can hold a charge for anywhere from 2-5 months once it receives a full charge.I'm very happy with this purchase and considering the prices for other watches that do not require a battery, you can't beat this Seiko watch. This is a high quality watch that could easily look like a multiple-hundred dollar watch. Very nice, you won't be disappointed if you decide to purchase this.
My watch batteries seem to run out of juice when I am far from stores who can replace them, so I decided to get a solar powered model. This one keeps excellent time and looks smart with business or recreational attire.
I know this is a budget Seiko and it is nice looking, The watchband is very hard to get my hands in as it does not open up as match as my other Seiko watch does which is the same size watch.I have large hands and small wrists and can barely get my hands in or out of this watch

Seiko SNE042 - Superb time keeper.
My review attempts to provide a few extra pieces of information that are not given in the product specifications or are fairly obvious from the image.Total weight of the watch and full strap is 95 gm. Each link in the strap weights ~2 gm.The watch face is 29 mm diameter, and the body is 9.5 mm thick (slightly thinner than stated in the specifications). The luminosity of the hands and hour marker dots is ample for telling the time in the dark. There are 11 removable links, each of 7 mm, meaning that the strap can be adjusted between ~123 mm and 200 mm (in steps of 7 mm). The links are fairly simple to remove; each is retained by a single split pin that can be pushed (in the direction marked on the links) using a suitable tool - I used a 1.2 mm precision screwdriver without any problem. Just make sure the pins are fully replaced in the reverse direction - they click when locked into position. The accuracy of the V158 movement is stupendous - over 6 days the watch is still spot-on. I can’t see any difference between the watch time display and radio time signal pips.I am very happy with my watch.
