One of My Most Anticipated and New Favorite Games
I have been waiting to pull the trigger on this for a while and I am glad I finally did. This game has been in and out of stock and I see why. The game mechanics are amazing and despite my game group not being as nerdy as I am with fantasy lore and all, they really enjoy this as well. Its a regular favorite at our board game nights now. It plays a lot like 7 wonders but with added tools to help you win in unique ways. Some of the instructions arent as clear as I would like, such as adding essences to cards (What is the point in some cases) other than to move that resource to the next round but other than that I still find it really enjoyable and I am looking forward to buying the expansion immediately.

My pick for the game of 2019
This game is incredible. Pretty quick to learn, the hardest part is learning the symbols, and the game provides a handy reference for that. Scales amazingly well from 2-4, and is simply a joy to play. I am continually amazed by the strategic depth with only a hand of 8 cards to work with at the beginning of the game. One thing I recommend, play with a dealt (random) hand while learning the game, but do drafting once you know the rules. Drafting is where its at with this one.Easy to set up and take down, games consistently under an hour, and they always leave me wanting to play just one more.

This game has really pulled my family together for "game night". It is so much fun with a bit practice.

Lots of fun!
Like many games these days, this is a resource management game. How do you collect enough resources to buy the artifacts that let you get more resources or attack other players or take various other actions. Eventually you want to collect points; whoever gets the most points wins.I like that each game is a little different depending on the cards you are dealt, and according to other items randomly chosen for each game.Recommended

Fun game
Fun game that now has an expansion available and another expansion on the way so the game has great re-playability. Shipped quick and arrived perfect. So glad when they ship in boxes, game boxes need to be in good condition as they hold all the pieces when you are not playing the game and are displayed on your game room shelf.

Terrific Engine-Building Card Game! BUT needs more cards.....
Res Arcana is a neat engine building game. Players are wizards (with different powers) who are completing with each other to build the greatest...victory point total! Yeah, the theme is generic fantasy, and is the weakest part of the game (hence the loss of a star). However, the game mechanics are solid, if not original. Basically, players will play cards with spells, artifacts, animals and even dragons that allow them to gather resources. Then those resources are spent to get other resources or to build monuments (for VPs and/or additional powers) or control centers of power (powerful tiles that give lots of VPs and/or powerful special abilities). On paper, it's pretty simple. BUT...the strategy is VERY deep. About the only major flaw (besides the lack of theme) is the lack of cards. Res Arcana doesn't have a large deck of cards. I think replayability is going to a long term problem, as players will undoubtedly figure out this game and it will become scripted. This game desperately needs an expansion! But, in the short term, Res Arcana is a solid game and worth getting if you're a fan of card driven engine-building game,

Great engine building game!
Definitely watch a couple of the YouTube video reviews from your favorite reviewers to get a good overview of the game. But it sets up quickly and easily and has been a great 2 player game so far. Have yet to try it with 3 or 4 but I do feel it will go over well with my group. Fantasy fans will love the art work too!

Great engine builder
When you first open the box you might think, "oh there's not many cards in here," but trust me it's enough. Each player only uses nine in a game, so it'll take you a while to see all of them. Even then, the combination building is really where the fun is anyway.
