Under A Funeral Moon

PURE NECRO
I heard this described as the misunderstood, overlooked, middle child of the unholy trinity of Darkthrone albums, haha, it's true, it's a struggle, but of pure genius. Darkthrone is a clever band, who feel like a friend to me. I'm 45 and this is as fresh today as it always will be. Cutting edge stuff lasts forever. Darkthrone are like us, they love this stuff, it is their lives, and it showsThe vocals are as necro as it gets, and the drumming is an avant garde masterpiece, swelling and dropping. Brutal cutting and grim orchestral stomp, and somehow fenriz even uses hells own doorknocker when ever he feels like it. Boom! Boom! Boom! One suggestion is that if you're new to Darkthrone, I'd probably absorb 'Blaze in the Northern Sky' first, as there is a kind of logical musical progression to this band. If you're used to DimmuBorgir the production's gonna sound a little rough. If you listen to Vlad Tepes, this'll be up there with Bieber! and don't download this for free somewhere, BUY IT! these guys are doing this for you! I heard one's a teacher, and the other works at the PostOffice. True hardcore, give them some respectI listened to this on repeat 10times on headphones while painting the interior of a house white... When the homeowner returned, I had to explain why it ended up black! haha HAIL SATAN! HAIL DARKTHRONE! TRVE MASTERS of BLACK METAL

Purest form of black metal.
This album is a true classic. And unlike a blaze in the northern sky, this album has left behind the death metal riffs and moved completely into black metal. If you're unsure about this album listen to the song "to walk the infernal feilds" and then make your decision. True classic and compared to its older and younger brothers it is constantly overlooked, which is a real shame. The bass drums on this album are sparse and rarely used but they are INSANE when they roar to life. All in all a perfect representation of the genre and a true classic. Get it.

Their Blackest
The first three Darkthrone albums are required listening for fans of BM. Fenriz himself argues that this was their ONLY true black metal release. From the stark minimalism to the icy cold production, it is a eerie monster looming in the shadows. Not as varied as A Blaze in the Northern Sky, not as memorable or riffy as Transylvanian Hunger, this is still worth every second.

The feeling
I mainly bought the album to support the band. I enjoy Darkthrone a lot and the power and feelings they put in their metal is fantastic. Hail Darkthrone! \m/

Norwegian black metal in its purest form
It doesn't get much more 'icy' or 'cold' than this when speaking of Nordic black metal, this is pure venom ... Haunting and majestic

Good taste of black metal
Like the album though not a huge black metal fan. Fenriz gives great commentary. Funny guy!

Cold and dark.
I am fairly new to Black Metal and I had this album recommended to me by a long standing Black Metal fan and I can honestly say that it is brilliant. If you like traditional old school Norwegian Black Metal this is a definite must buy album. Every single track is excellent. Very highly recommended.

This album is one of my favourite bm albums
The third official Darkthrone release, the first that is as Fenris puts it "100% black metal"... apparently "...northern sky" still has some death metal elements. This album is one of my favourite bm albums. Its bleak as hell. Awesome riffs and incredible atmosphere. Packaging is pretty minimal but what else would you expect? Great release, buy it.

I have owned this album for sometime now, but still it draws me back for repeat listens. I do not understand why people slate the sound quality, i have never found it to have an affect on my listening experiance - It is raw, harsh and chilling.Buy this album, if you have any interest at all in Black Metal.
