The Ultimate Conspiracy Theory
Flavio Barbiero's The Secret Society of Moses I found a fascinating read. It's been a few months since I finished it and loaned it to two others. I just received it back two days ago. The opening chapters dealing with the Old Testament and the reconstructed history of the family of Moses and its center at Shiloh were tough slogging for me--maybe because I haven't read much of the Old Testament since I was a child. Having read quite a lot of Roman and European history, I found it much easier to follow what he was proposing once Barbiero got to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.; and, from there on, I could barely tear myself away from this book. I don't know to what extent I am convinced that most--if not all--of subsequent western civilization has been engineered by the priestly descendants of Moses who allegedly escaped from Jerusalem to Rome with Flavius Josephus. I think the evidence is thin, but the reasoning is strong. This is something I'll be thinking about for the rest of my life. For those who scoff at conspiracy theories, remember that all of history is one conspiracy after another. When a conspiracy succeeds, we call it by another name. Speaking of names, is the author's name some kind of evidence that he is one of the descendants of Josephus? Now I've got to read that book again.

Fascinating ideas
I've now read halfway through and eager to complete it, though have a strong inclination to recommend this already! On these types of topics, I expect to get 10% good and 90% baloney. From this book, I so far get 80% good and 20% questions. This is a book worthy of reading and rational consideration: historically and conceptually. In this book, Flavio Barbiero presents a profound series of--interlinked but not interdependent--theories. What impresses me most is how Barbiero proves the first three hypotheses using the Pentateuch section of the Holy Bible as primary source. Those are great proofs! One must conclude that if Moses existed as described in the Bible, then it is only logical from the textual evidence that his bloodlines were and are evermore influential. They certainly are! Yet, while I'd prefer to believe the fantasy of all that's presented, I can only be won over by facts with solid logic. So far, things occuring after 300 A.D. things seem to me more fantasy than reality. But, it's possible the author is right and hasn't yet presented the proofs. (I need to read the last half and dig into the cited footnotes to do the honest work of evaluating it for myself. Until then, I wish to not fall into fantasy.)Back to what I like: I am convinced the author could be dead-on accurate from Moses and the following 700-plus years. That's phenomenal... and even the concept of what is theorized is a reason to buy this book.A ton of details are worthy of debate--in fact, I would like to see all details brought up for debate--but the first handful of generations from Moses are solidly presented. The details of who begat who, in my opinion, has less value than the greater good of considering the more general concept. The God of the Bible loved and treasured Moses. Overall, it seems logical that, in one way or another, Moses' bloodline is still very much a spiritual and political influence today.

Not for the serious historian
For those expecting to find a scholarly dissertation on what sounded like a great historical find, you may find yourself scratching your head. The author's hypothesis is stretched with much imagination. I haven't read any correlation of his "story" from noted historians who admit they don't have the facts. However, if one sees this book as "historical fiction", it is a fun read and who knows, maybe through his wild imagination the author has found a piece of history others haven't bothered to look for.

"The Secret Society Of Moses", a book by Flavio Barbiero.
This is an interesting book by Flavio Barbiero detailing the censorship of Moses & his descendants in the Bible including the disappearance of his sons in the books Joshua & Judges. The author suggests this censorship starts/suggested from the circumstances of Moses's death & burial. To quote directly from Deuteoronomy "So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. And HE buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor : but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day". Despite this allieniation of Moses & his family, they managed to surface again as priests & heads of Israel, heavily influenced the evolution of Judeo-Christian roots of Roman Empire, European Aristocracy & modern secret societies (Heraldry & Masonry). We know the Freemasons had a great influence on the Founding Fathers of US Constitution! Fascinating book on one of the most important prophet in the Old Testament & Torah, highy recommended reading.

Important analysis that jaw-drops
I really found the thesis compelling and persuasive. I’ve read Joseph Atwill’s two books, “Caesar’s Messiah”And “Shakespeare’s Secret Messiah” (sequel - discusses how the Trinity was formed using same typological analysis from Caesar’s Messiah). This book about an ethnic bloodline conspiracy adds a new perspective that in my opinion will / can work along with the Joe Atwill thesis.I highly recommend this important work.

EXCELLENT SOLUTIONS TO AGE OLD QUESTIONS
I have always enjoyed reading books that show research on the cutting edge. This is one of them. This theory and the research behind the answers give so many solutions to questions that I have asked for so many years. So much of textbook history is false...based on in adequate research and information; this is not. I only hope that others delve just as deeply into the archives of historical documents and succeed in confirming his premise. I enjoyed reading every bit of it and will probably re-read it. I only hope that the author and you readers will read: "Secrets of the Exodus" by Messod and Roger Sabbah, which would be a frontspiece to this work. They fit together like hand in glove.
