A bit expensive but so easy to apply and better than expected results. Would use this brand again!
Purchased 2 gallons of the Transparent -Cedar Tone to protect roughly 300 sq. ft of newly-installed fence. We had to wait about 3 months from the time of fence installation and actual staining not only to get the right weather for the application but also to let the wood 'breath-out' ---as well as 'weather out' during that gap.The gallon cans arrived very well-packed and protected - each can wrapped in thick plastic sleeves & the covers had extra metal clips to prevent accidental opening while in transit. We applied using brushes designed for oil-based stains but we had to stir it occasionally in order to get the most out of the cedar-tone pigments. We made sure that the wood (redwood) absorbed the stain liberally. Applied 2 or more coats with about an hour gap in between coats on a nice 70 -75 degree, sunny weather.I liked the finish -light-reddish-brown tinge- it gave to the wood --- see before & after photos. Not really transparent. But, most importantly, it gave the wood a coat/sheen that resisted water from seeping completely into the wood -- as three (3) sunny days after we had stained the fence, we did a "shower test".As this is oil-based, clean-up was easy using lacquer/thinner.We plan to re-stain the fence after 3 or 4 years with the same brand ---depends on how the stain will hold out over that span of time. Will update.Overall, this was really a good product. A bit expensive than typical wood stains found at big-box, chain stores but definitely worth the wait as well as the money spent!!!

Good for Outhouses
This stain is probably not quite as "transparent" as some others. None of them will leave the wood looking like it does with no stain. It soaked into new cedar boards easily and left a nice finish on my new Outhouse.

the "cedar" was much darker than normal but...still made a nice background.
The "cedar" was much too dark...not a stain but more like a paint.
