Bill Neal's Southern Cooking

Every recipe I have made from this book has resulted in a really good meal. Can't ask for more than that from a cookbook. I ate at both of his La Residence locations and the food was remarkable. I can't coax quite the masterpieces he served from the book but I am sure the problem lies with me.

I liked the stories surrounding the recipes and the fact that I could find real recipes of Southern classics.

This book makes delicious Souther cuisine understandable and accessible for everyone...even someone like me who came from "Yankee land."

Not enough recipes in book. Mostly story telling. I wish I had saved the wrapping, I would have returned it.

Arrived in good shape

Wonderful book. I have a library of cookbooks and this is one of my current favorites. These are serious tested recipes of old Southern favorites. Not overly rich Red Neck cooking.

Bill Neal really 'nailed' the genre of southern cookery. A lot of the recipes remind me of my grandmother's cooking. She was from a southern family that primarily cooked from their truck garden and with the hogs & chickens raised on their farm. For those the least interested in southern cooked food; this is the best I've found.
