Portland, Maine Chef's Table: Extraordinary Recipes From Casco Bay

My wife is originally from Maine. We spend three months each summer now in retirement up there - and Portland along with Freeport and LL Bean are always high on our list for day trips. She is also a cookbook collector. This one was recommended enthusiastically by a resident life-long friend who is quite selective about her restaurants and anything smacking of food prep. So I bought it for my wife and while I can't say with any accuracy whether we have enjoyed anything she might have prepared from it, I can say my wife loves it. We spend a lot of time traveling by car and she always has a book or two open during our Interstate highway stretches. This is one of those cookbooks that I see her with frequently.

I thought the book would have a lot of creative seafood healthy seafood preparations. It did not and so I returned the book.

This book is a great tribute to the wonderful city of Portland. The recipes will definitely inspire readers to travel to Portland, in addition to inspiring forays into the kitchen. The recipes I've tried have been great, and even though there are some complicated ones I probably won't be daring enough to attempt, they are nonetheless fun to read. Plus the photographs are beautiful.
