Good recipes with excellent photos on what the food should look like.
There are many great Polish dishes which are shown with step by step photos, not just the end product.

A refreshing take on Polish cuisine
This book offers a spectacular introduction for the uninitiated, and a refreshing look at the classic dishes for those who are familiar with the cuisine of Poland. Author Ewa Michalik doesn't try to overwhelm with the sheer number of recipes. Quite the opposite--she selects some signature dishes and some lesser known ones, creatively updates most of them, and complements each one with page-sized photograph. With slightly more than 60 recipes, this book is perfect for the beginner who is curious about Polish cooking. At the same time, the quality of the recipes will appeal to the more experienced reader. Finally, the beautiful presentation makes The Food and Cooking of Poland as much a feast for the eyes as for the palate.

Polish traditional food to pass down trhough the family
I bought two copies of this book for both my sons as the recipes vary very little from my Mother's versions of some of these Polish classics. They both love coming home for my Polish cooking and are interested in introducing their families to it. I only remember a limited number of dishes which I made at my Mother's side so it is good to see them in print. I can only guess that Ewa came from a region near my parents' as I have spoken with Poles from different areas who have their different regional variations, so I was excited to find the versions I grew up with in this book.

Good but not perfect...
Nice big book with reasonable selection of recipes served with big colour photos. My only ctiticism would be the omission of some everyday usable and versatile dishes such as "Bitki" and "Kotlety". Former is virtually indentical to "schnitzel" and the "Breaded Pork Cutlets" mentioned in the book but you would use chicken, turkey or pork escalopes. Kotlety (mielone) - meatballs - are surprisingly missing - these are simple, tasty and have a wide appeal. I would also have preferred to see more info on the different types of sausages (kielbasy) and pickles which would have made the book more comprehensive about Polski food. Other than that this is a good informative book.
