The Best of MUTTS Hardcover – September 1, 2007

Loved this cartoon strip when I was younger and it still makes me laugh now. I'm 79 and got this for laugh relief during this Covid. I'm a cat person so I really relate to the humor. Brilliantly done.

I just discovered the cartoon strip, "Mutts" last year as my local papers don't carry this strip. My best friend in California sends the strips to me every week.I craved for more so I ordered this book, "The Best of Mutts." It is just wonderful! It presents the first 10 years of the strip (1997-2007)with the cartoonist author, Patrick McDonnell, introducing each year with an explanation of how the strip is evolving and introduces the new characters he has added over the years. This is the funniest cartoon strip I have ever read. The main characters, "Mooch" (the all knowing cat), and "Earl" (the more humble dog) are best friends and they share their views of the world in nature from their unique vantage point. It is filled with simple pleasures and joy of their every day experiences encountering other species on the planet and a running commentary of how beautiful and puzzling life itself can be. This is a must have book. You won't regret for one moment adding this book to your home library. Enjoy!

Alas, my book is printed UPSIDE-DOWN and BACKWARDS from the covers. I live so far away I am not going to send it back. Will cross my fingers and hope it's a rare mistake, a collector's fetish. The general quality of the book seems excellent, with its recycled paper very sturdy. I am going to love reading this, spending careful time with this masterwork. Patrick McDonnell loves his comics, their history, and every panel shows it. Oh please an annotated, collected version in beautiful hardcover (printed rightside up, of course) of the entire history of this comic!

Thanks to Oprah, I am reading and enjoying a hilarious comic strip again. I foolishly gave up on comic strips like this after my favorities ("Pogo", "Peanuts", and "Calvin and Hobbes") became unavailable other than repeats.Thank you Oprah and especially thank you Patrick McDonnell. I have already ordered more of these books.I sit down late at night to read a page before going to bed, but like a little kid, I find myself thinking repeatedly, "Okay, just one more page and then I'll go to bed".

This is a 10 year collection to make up the "Best of Mutts." I hope he produces another 10 year collection that brings us closer to 2014. If you are a pet lover, or a fan of Patrick McDonnell's cartoon strip, this is a great gift to enjoy again and again. Humor and simple lessons of life in each strip are timeless.

Given as a gift to a fellow animal-lover. She'd never heard of the comic strip while i've loved them for years. She loved this book, and now loves all things Mutts!The book is great because it gives the reader background knowledge and a history of the strip and its characters. Super-fun reading!

The "Mutts" strip is one of the greats of all time. I love Earl and Mooch (and their assorted pals). I own a copy and was happy to make a gift of this collection because it's absolutely endearing.

This book is an entire anthology of the very best of Mutts. Additional notes by the author provide a deeper insight in his special work. The illustrations are partly b/w and partly coloured.The price is awesome, and the quality of the hardcover is amazing. I received it in Germany after a shipping time of 4 days, even though Amazon said it would take at least 4 weeks. 5 stars!!

Mutts no es una serie muy conocida por aquí en España, por eso este libro recopilatorio es una perfecta tarjeta de presentación. Las historias de esta pareja de animales -gato, perro- tienen un carácter apto para toda la familia, así que se puede usar incluso como libro para aprender inglés con los niños, ya que su humor (no siempre) es accesible e inocente. El libro, tapa dura, y combinación de blanco y negro color, muestra una selección hecha por el propio autor en orden cronológico (1994-2004), aunque hubiese preferido una selección más objetiva por un tercero. Como además es una edición de 2007, seguro que hay mucho más material disponible, y para el que quiera ver cómo han seguido evolucionando estos personajes no sea probablemente una edición definitiva

Ganz ehrlich? Dieses Buch muss man besitzen.Ich liebe Mutts, seit die Comicstrips vor Jahren in meiner damaligen Tageszeitung auftauchten und diese Buch ist eine toll gemachte, liebevoll zusammengestellte Sammlung von Mutts-Strips, an der es absolut nichts auszusetzen gibt.Übrigens: Wer die Peanuts leibt, mag wahrscheinlich auch Mutts. Zumindest mochte Charles M. Schultz, der Vater der Peanut, Mutts so sehr, dass er sie als Motiv für ein Bild verwendete.

Erwärmt definitiv die Seele, zaubert ein Lächeln ins Gesicht und regt zum Nachdenken an
