Usul al Tafsir: The Sciences and Methodology of the Quran

This is a great overview of the origins and development of tafsir (Quranic commentary). Dogan's work is great for the beginner, and provides insights even for the well-versed. I think this book deserves its place in a devoted student's library. Dogan draws from other sources such as Yasir Qadi, but his work is more concise than Qadi's.
