Ok product, can use room for improvement
I think the Ikan smartphone gimbal was good in terms of stabilization. It will make your video look very smooth. There are built in gesture mechanisms which make it a very nice unit. I did have an issue with the battery never fully charging. I called their tech support department and they told me to send it back. I was hoping they would just send me a replacement one. The second issue I had was the gimbal tilt was slightly tilted to the left. Their tech support department said it must be the way I calibrated it. I've worked with many gimbals before and I know how to calibrate these devices. I tried all different ways and it always resulted in slightly crooked video. If you're going through a field running or through the woods, you may not notice the tilt. But if you look at the horizon, you can see the tilt.Another thing I didn't like was how they added their counter balance system. In order to store it, I had to unscrew the balance to fit it back in the case. The case is a nice one.I ended up buying a Kumbacam stabilizer instead and I feel it's much better than this Ikan product. The Kumbacam has buttons which allow you to set stabilization to different modes. You can even control the pan and tilt. Battery lasts 3-7 hours depending on how heavy your phone is. The Ikan would last about 1 hour.So in the end, despite the issues I had, the Ikan does stabilize, but for the price, I'd rather get the Kumbacam,

Perfection.
I shoot stock video and photos for Getty for a living and wanted a simple run-and-gun system with some sort of image stabilization. My iPhone 6’s video is good enough for stock with lots of light and some post grading. Ordered the Ikan FLY-X3-Plus and was blown away. Took a few minutes to adjust the counterbalance (it does not have to be perfectly level) and slipped in the iPhone 6 with the Otter box case still on it. Fit perfectly. Then I ran up and down my driveway with Active Stabilization on and off. HOLY FUG! It was like having a $10k Steadicam. With it off, the video was “Victory at sea”. Horrible. Button on – PURE BUTTER! I mean INSANELY smooth. The machining and assembly would make Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive take notice. Beautiful. Great craftsmanship and ergonomics. Feels sweet in the hand. The case is all quality as well. Check it out on the video.I found that I could completely remove the counterbalance weight and it still worked fine and aligned quickly. When turned off, I could never get my iPhone 6 to balance horizontally. Ikan should to add more threaded holes for the main weight beneath the central block below the logo. When you first turn it on with phone attached, place it vertically on a level table and let it level out. Align it to the handle and it will learn what direction you want. Then off you go and watch magic happen.NOTE: This product is a rebranding of the Lanparte 3-Axis Stabilizer. Do not buy if you intend to use with the iPhone 6+.
This Gimbal stabilizer was the 1st of its kind that I’ve ever purchased for use with a smart phone. It was advertised to work with larger smart phones such as the iPhone 6+, and also with the go Pro.Over the course of 2 months I’ve taken this out to use on a trip with my iPhone 6+. All of my footage comes out a little bit crooked. Crooked to the left (so the footage looks like it’s going downhill to the right). It doesn’t matter how I balance the unit, it starts out looking okay, but with more and more use the footage leans more and more to the left.I ruled out batteries, and charge level by purchasing extras to swap in. I ruled out improper balancing by even overcompensating for it to hopefully tilt more towards the right to try to correct for the tendency of the unit to lean left. I’ve even thought about modifying the cradle to lean more towards the right as the best solution while I was using it abroad. Unfortunately, as I briefly mentioned, the lean to the left is not always consistent and will vary with more and more use. It was at that point and realization that my trying to jury rig my own solution would not work -- that I contacted customer service.I received a prompt reply saying that I can RMA it and possibly have the servos adjusted after inspection. That really didn’t do me any good because I was overseas in Asia.Coming back from the trip I decided to try another unit. Same issue: completely worthless with the iPhone 6+ no matter what way I balanced. Even trying to overcompensate for the balance by putting more weight on the right-hand side in hopes of getting a level shot.I have given up hope. I do not recommend this Gimbel stabilizer for the iPhone 6+. It does not work as advertised. On the flipside, I did use it with the GoPro 4 with the mount which was sold separately, and it works. The rest of the features and functionality are as advertised. It’s very easy to use, and I think that is its best feature. As far as durability is concerned, the unit does not feel like it would last as well as one would expect were it to be labeled professional gear. The rubberized finish on the unit is likely to wear off with any moderate amount of use. In the month that I’ve used it (sparingly), I see the finished coming off already in certain parts of the unit. The 2nd month, I didn’t really use it much at all since all the footage was crooked. One further thing that I didn't like about the minute was that swapping between the cradles involved taking out the included hex wrench and removing some screws to switch mounts and cradles. If you are intending to use this only with one type of device, let it be the go Pro, and you won't have any of the inconveniences of removing screws, snapping the cradles in and out, adjusting the weight(s), and possibly losing said screws.

Preis Leistung Top!
