Judy Moody and Friends: Jessica Finch in Pig Trouble

The BEST early chapter books for kids!
The Judy Moody and Friends series is the best series you can get for your children that are entering the world of chapter books. It isn't too easy and isn't too hard - there are paragraphs that are more than a couple sentences a page like "older kid" books, there are a few more challenging words that young kids haven't seen before, but not too challenging that they can't figure out what they are. I really love the paper (I know this is such a weird thing, but the smooth glossy paper is so much more appealing visually and texturally to myself and my kids) and there are a few pictures throughout the book. I love the blend of a chapter book but also having appealing pictures for creative/visual children. These are the perfect bridge between mostly picture books and chapter books for new readers. My daughter has been flying through the series and she loves them. The characters are cute and have their own personalities and hobbies and each have their own books in the series (Jessica Finch in Pig Trouble, Amy Namey in Ace Reporter, etc.). The books are short enough to not be overwhelming but long enough to feel like an actual book with a storyline. Wonderful read.

Perfect for newly independent readers!
I love this series! My 6 year old has just started 1st grade and is just becoming an independent reader. A full chapter book is too intimidating for her, but these mini chapter books are perfect! She read this one first and didn't want to put it down. Usually reading has been like pulling teeth, but this is the first book she grabbed on her own and wanted to keep reading; I had to force her to stop for dinner.

Another nice book my Ms. McDonald.
Well, Megan has got me hooked on more of her books. Which is a bit embarrassing to a 62 year old with no children. But, I'm old enough to not really care if others think I'm weird. I love all the Judy Moody books. And the movie. This book has the Judy characters, but with Jessica being the focus of the story. It is a nice story and the art work makes me smile.Oh? the men in the white suits are here? [grin]

Awesome art! Fun story
Awesome art! Fun story. This is the best of the JM and Friends books. It would get 5 stars if Jessica's personality had a smidgen more substance.

Wonderful story!
Wonderful story! Bought it for my 4 yr Granddaughter. It captivated her from start to finish. I have since found a Judy Moody series at Costco. Must be popular with many.

This book was perfect for her and could read it independently
Fabulous book for any Judy Moody fan with more basic text. My daughter is entering 1st grade and loves the movie but the older series was a bit hard for her to read. This book was perfect for her and could read it independently.

GREAT book for early readers
My daughter struggles with reading and was getting tired of all of the childish early reading books. This book made her feel like she was reading at an advanced level, even though the language was perfect for her.
