Great product
First of all, I waited for a while to write this review. Have had multiple different types of hose reels/holders and most of them fail after a certain period of time. Don't know about the longeviry of this product yet, but I do love it's ease of use and the fact that it is not taking up room on the ground. I always depressurize hose before retracting and do not pressurize until length is extended so I don't add additional stress to the mechanism. I am impressed with how much return power the hose has when retracting. It has enough to totally retract hose back into case. I also keep a damp towel on hose when retracting to avoid bringing a lot of debris into case/mechanism. So far so good. No more tangled hoses.

retractable spring broke in 4 years
I really liked this, however 4 years later it won't retract anymore as the retractable spring broke. I feel I should have gotten more than 4 years of usage. Boo!

Great for first year, stopped retracting after that
I really liked this reel at first. The hose felt a bit cheaply made but the functionality was great. At least for the first year. When Spring came the next year I found that the reel would no longer auto-retract, and the green cover plate on the side had popped off - because a plastic piece that controls the ratcheting had broken. I kept the hose for quite a while longer even though it would no longer retract, but last week I decided to take the white cover off to see if it was repairable. You can see from the pictures that the winding spring completely snapped in several places. So no, it was not repairable.Like I said I really liked this reel at first. The design even seems okay, it's just too bad they didn't use higher quality parts.

Good product, very good customer service.
I bought 2 of these about 1 year ago. One continues to work great. The other had a defective hose and blew a hole near the nozzle connection point. I contacted the manufacturer and they promptly responded to replace the defective unit. Once installed, it is easy to remove for winter storage. I agree with other comments that the mounting bracket should be able to be removed for installation — depending on where you install, it can be difficult to access the mounting screws to tighten or loosen. Overall, a nice product and I had a great experience with their customer service when I had an issue.

Just my initial review.
Product came with large scratch removing part of the ikris label. Internal mechanism was out of place. Fortunately, I don’t care about scratch because will wear away eventually anyway, internally I was able to fix the broken part because I’m handy and capable. I’m writing this review so the company knows, and some people might not be able to fix these issues as easily as I was. Box was not damaged during delivery and I have to assume it was placed in box as I received it. Quality control may be an issue at the assembly line. As for the product itself, I’ve only just installed and will know by next year if it was worth the money.

pulled hose out and heard the spring give way
I loved the hose real and took care not to pull it out to far and to follow all instructions. One day I pulled it out to thesame length as always, heard a ping.. and realized spring had given way. Is there a way to repair this or am I just screwed? Please help me get this repaired or let me know what to do, love it when it works!!

FANTASTIC
I read through all the reviews and have since purchased two of these hose reels (one last year, one this year). For people complaining on mounting the reel, it's not that hard at all. If you know how to use a drill, and how to mark out things before measuring, it's very easy. If you don't know how to do that, then I can see where the complaints are, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the product. This is my favorite garden purchase.

Spring so strong it broke the unit. Piece of junk.
I bought and installed this about a month ago to replace one I had gotten from Frontgate about 6 years ago. I used it about 8-10 times. The problem is that the spring is SO STRONG that the hose retracts at a high rate of speed. I have had to manually apply resistance to ease it back into the unit. Yesterday, while maneuvering the hose I accidentally tripped the retraction and it flew out of my hands. It retracted so hard that it broke the hose guide, which got stuck in the bottom of the unit. Now it is all but unusable. Expensive, but poorly engineered. Now I'm out over $100 .
