Really great product!
I decided to buy a safety razor to reduce my use of overly expensive plastic disposable razors. I wanted a quality product that would last but wouldn't break the bank either...there's some ridiculously expensive safety razors out there! Have had this razor a couple of weeks now and I am delighted. It looks great and although the finish isn't 100% perfect, the engraved top and low price with free travel case more than make up for this. It's nicely weighted but not too heavy and it's handle is the same length as most disposable razors so it's easy to use. In terms of shaving with a single blade safety razor, I found the transition easy and the shave is just as good, if not better, than any commercial plastic razors I've used. Would definitely recommend this product as an environmentally friendly alternative to any disposable plastic razor!**Side note: I did buy a 100 pack of Derby Extra shaving blades to go along with this razor and although I've had no issues with these blades whilst shaving, from an environmental 'reducing plastic use' standpoint they fail miserably. Every 5 blades are housed in separate hard plastic casings which are then wrapped in clear plastic. Also I regret buying the 100 pack. In using the razor for about 2 weeks now I've only used roughly 2 blades, each blade staying sharp for a long time. It's definitely overkill buying a 100 of them so if there's a smaller pack available I would probably go for that!

Premium shave from a stellar instrument.
I have fought through disposable razor after another for too many years. I wondered why could I not get the type of shave I had when I was young? Then I remembered, back then we didn't have disposable razors. My father used a butterfly razor and the shave was always close. So, I set out to find that same razor, but one thought nagged at me. Dad had to throw that butterfly razor away because it broke. Then we switched to electric. All that noise! Anyway, I saw the Earnest James Safety Razor and immediately saved it before continuing my search. After comparing many other products to the Earnest James I realized that this was the razor for me. A short wait for delivery and I set up for my first real shave in decades. I felt good having the heft of metal in hand. Within seconds I knew my life was back to wonderful! A truly effortless shave and skin close. A little clean up and I'm all set for shave #2. A beautiful razor, sturdy, elegant and a joy for me to own. You could say I am extremely happy with the The Best Chrome 3-Piece Double Edge Safety Razor and you are so right. I tip my hat to Earnest James... a mighty fine instrument you have here, and that's a fact!

Well crafted and simple is often best
When I embarked on my quest for the best DE razor for me, I purchased several razors from well known names and in all the variations: adjustable butterfly opening, adjustable removable top cover, three piece, and two piece. I have tried half a dozen different blades. I am 74 so my beard has toughened up but I have sensitive skin. The Edward James three piece, extra long chrome DE razor so far is one of the best if not the single best razor of them all. It is better than the razor I bought for $62.00 or the one I bought for $150.00. It has the best shaving feel, while removing beard without more than two stroke segments - with the grain and against the grain. It is simple, elegant, not destined to break and easy for me to use at the correct angle because of the extra length. All in all, my best purchase. Thanks Edward James.

Its a Good Knock Off Razor
Yes its an Asian produced razor that invokes the Jagger Sheffield name. But it isn't really an English razor. I thought about sending it back but I went ahead and tried it. With a good Feather blade it actually works pretty good. So I kept it for its ability knowing that it is not what it should be.

Solid razor!
I love this razor. The only thing I would change is the way you have to change blades. I prefer the butterfly opening instead of removing the head and changing the blade. I think in the long term, this razor will last much longer but it’s a little more time consuming.

Lightweight, but still very good.
This seems to be a good budget, or beginner razor. It's chrome plated brass, and the only downside I can see is it seems a little lightweight. Usually razors like this are known for "heaviness" to help balance and pivot while shaving. The handle on this one appears to be mainly hollow. Not tube type hollow, but machined hollow. The brass threads are perfect, and hopefully they aid in corrosion resistance. (which is why the chrome plated zinc ones usually fail after a year or two.The head and backing plate are typically, nothing rough or uneven. And the blade fits in it perfectly. If you're looking for a good, traditional screw top, safety razor, this is it. It would be perfect for a beginner, or an old pro.I would not hesitate to give these as gifts or buy again.

Gentle shave and long handle
Definitely a more gentle shave which I like because I have to shave often for work. My Weishi will get a closer shave but is harder on my skin. The blade changing is a little bit of a pain but also means that the blade is very firmly in there and this handle adds some tension to the blade. The only reason it lost a star is that with my feather blades I have to make sure it sits evenly on both sides of the head."Update"After having this awhile and tried other DE razors I love this more, aggressive but gentle. I've also found I'm more of a 3 piece then butterfly. Updated from four to five stars
