Small Pet Select-Grower/Grown-Up Chicken Grit (6+ Weeks), 10LB

I’m rating the product 5 stars as it appears to be a quality product. I didn’t buy this to give to chickens so I can’t comment on that aspect; however, this product appears to be clean and properly suited for chicken grit hence my rating.However, I rate the packaging as ZERO STARS. I received this in a small cardboard box with a product label affixed to one side. I was expecting a sealed bag inside this box (as is shown in the listing photo). Well, imagine my surprise when I opened the end flaps of the box and had the product to spill out into my lap and skitter across the living room floor. What a mess!!!! I appreciate reducing plastics, but come on, put an information label or something on the box so we expect the loose fill to be exposed upon opening.

… now they’re gobbling it up! And, spilling it so I’m changing their grit feeder.I’m going through a lot of this for six pullets! Is that normal?

arrived without delays, well packaged. Love the box packaging. thank you. The box is great for this kind of grit and all works wonderful as long as we open it correctly, from the top, not the sides..thought I would mention that for the future reference of other folks inquiring..LOL

Updating a couple months later: this grit IS smaller than other companies grit I have tried so I will add one more star. I actually went back to this brand because the size of the grit is efficient for my chickens. When I received it the second time, the packaging was a box, but it was a bit better packaged.It comes in a cardboard box and that was it. It was loose in a cardboard box. Is this the way you guys are reducing your environmental impact? It would be nice if you advertised that it just comes loose in a cardboard box that lets the stones fall out before I even opened it.

This product did not function as grower grit when I received it. I had to purchase a different grit due to the poor function. When received, the product bag was labeled grower feed which I feel contributed to the products lack of function as grit. Refunds and/or exchanges are not offered by the seller. I was expecting the product to contain crushed stone and the product I received did not contain crushed stone.

My chickens love this brand, the grit is not overly large like most brands out there. It’s the perfect size.

Granite for the gizzard is necessary for chickens.

Chickens ate it as expected and it provided the gritty nutrients they needed.
