It reflects on life in the 50's and having raised my family at that time I can relate to the setting. We all had extented families and the foibles and eccentricities of the mermbers of each clan were distinctive and yet somewhat connected. Also, I knew the author in his school days so that was a draw to read his memoir. Somewhat rambling but an enjoyable read!

A masterpiece of family lore and storytelling, akin to watching, 'Paper Moon', "I Love Lucy,' and an episode of "Seinfeld," all in one. Truly hilarious.There is an Italian saying, "Una Mamma Italiana e' una benedizione di dio." This means an Italian mother is a blessing from God."Bunny," or my favorite, " Father Ernesto," has illustrated that an Italian-American family is quite a blessing and a delight all it's own.Complimenti, Don Ernesto!

Fun read! It is entertaining and tongue-in-cheek.The author does a fine job of delivering all the detailswithout sacrificing the cultural, historical, and social merits.

If you are going to include a family member in the book, please make it accurate. Mary Ann was THE best woman, daughter, sister, mother and friend to EVERYONE she met. Instead of "pulling that theory out of your ass" you could have asked her daughters, that knew her most. The answer might have been- She was not a "drinker" or a "gambler", she was a lot like her dad, Sam Dodero (and brother, Rudy Dodero). You did describe her father, Sam Dodero accurately. "He was one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet, he also thought everyone else was nice, too". Mary Ann was the most "other-centered" person. She would give anything she had to help anyone in need. Finally, since you do not have it listed, Mary Ann has three daughters and they have spouses. Kimberly Adair and Edwin Adair. Terri Bennett and Dave Bennett. Cheryl Rock and Dave Rock. Whether or not anyone cares, Just thought it should be accurate. On a side note: Her daughters babysat Michelle and Bernadette when they were little. I recall they had fun at the zoo!
