Exploring Creation with Physical Science 2nd Edition, Textbook

This book was marked as “good“ condition and was noted to have wear and tear. I was expecting this to arrive A bit more beat up but this book was in amazing condition for having been used before. After this experience, I would certainly trust the seller to accurately rate their products.

This book shipped quickly, which is important when I'm ordering in August for the start of the school year. I think this textbook is written in an easy-to-understand, conversational style. The questions make you think and apply what you've learned, as opposed to regurgitation-type questions. It's not too hard, but is academically sound prepares students well. However, if your student has already had earth science or earth and space science, it repeats a lot of that material. When I was growing up, Earth Science was an 8th grade course, and Life Science was 7th. The author realized that Biology was being moved to a 9th grade course, so Physical Science had to be moved to an 8th grade course, and so on. Where would it end? So this author had the buck stop here, combining Earth Science with some chemistry and physics topics and principles, all in one in this product. When I teach from this book, I add in a little more chemistry and physics from a different Physical Science textbook that covers the traditional material. I hope it prepares them a little better for later upper-level courses, since I see Physical Science as a sort of introductory or pre- chemistry and physics. I also add a few more challenging labs, choosing to use some of the quick, easier experiments in this book as classroom demonstrations. This product works fine on its own. I'm just a science nerd.

This book was very clean and reasonably priced.

The science in it is very good and easy to understand. The experiments are fun and interesting. Be aware that this book is written from a creationist point of view, so if, like me, you do not accept that particular assertion, be warned that he does raise the argument for why the earth is only several thousand years old, and more than once, but it is inserted in such a way in the book that it can be disregarded. My daughter and I discussed the occurrences when she encountered them and she actually gave me reasons why she did not accept his arguments, so that was a teaching moment in itself. We use it in conjunction with the notebook which makes it very easy to pace and organize the workload for the year.

This has nothing to do with the contentOf the book itself, but there was a disgusting fly smashed between a couple of the pages of the book we received.

These science books are based on truth and real science! Been using Apologia for years and they never disappoint.

All the Apologia textbooks and companion CDs are easy to use, have clear, understandable explanations for complicated subjects, and tell you what you need to know to pass college level classes from a Biblical worldview. My daughter, who is majoring in chemistry, used these textbooks when she took co-op classes, and said every science class she took in college that she had studied in high school had the same information. She felt exceptionally prepared for college using these textbooks. I am not a science geek by any stretch of the imagination, but have used these textbooks to teach my younger 2 kids with no trouble. If you answer the questions at the end of each section and chapter, and review for the tests, it's as easy as science gets!

I like how the author has inserted labs and questions throughout each chapter. Traditional books have these only at the end. We just started using it, so time will tell if it was a good fit for my daughter. I purchased based on Kent Hovind's recommendation, in one of his DVD seminars. This is a HIGH SCHOOL COURSE. I purchased for my 13 year old. The book I received does not look like this picture, and is older.
