Blurry video
I’m torn about rating this. The film itself is a definite 5 star, but the video quality is quite bad. Years ago I ordered this movie from Last Chance Video and the quality was very good. Unfortunately, I lent it out & never got it back. I was thrilled it was available on Amazon. But it is no where close to my first DVD purchase. Live & learn🫤

This movie was really good
My mom asked me to order this movie for her. I didn’t think I would watch it. She brought it to my house and we watched it together. This was an amazing movie. It was interesting from begin to end. Jane Fonda and crew did a great job. I will definitely watch again.

Fonda’s most surprising & overlooked film. It’s up there with “Coming Home” in her early work.
I was struck by “The Dollmaker” when it came out & all these decades later decided to get the dvd. (Good luck finding it over the last 40 years.) A complete surprise seeing Fonda portray a southern Appalachian mountain woman... & she’s good. A forgotten gem. Low budget production values; this film cries out for a remake.

It's About Time!
I've waited decades for this movie to be available on DVD. Finally got my wish! This was a Christmas gift for me. I'm excited to have it. GREAT movie!

Superb film, very poor copy
In my view this is one of Jane Fonda‘s greatest performances, if not the greatest. It ranks with „Klute“ for which she was awarded an Oscar, and deserves every star there is. I recorded this film on video many years ago and have tried several times since to buy the DVD. Having watched this one, I must conclude that there are only copies available, no professionally made commercial DVDs. The quality is comparable to 1960‘s television - hardly what you would expect in 2020. Why oh why is this truly great film (which is much more than a sad weepy) not on general sale? And could private sellers please stop putting poor copies on the market?

Excellent film - atrocious quality DVD
This was one of my Mum's favourite films from the 1980s, so I was delighted when I found it on here, thinking it would be a great surprise for her. Unfortunately, whilst the film is wonderful and Jane Fonda's acting is indeed Emmy-winning, the audio and visual quality of the DVD are atrocious. It really does look like someone recorded this on an old Betamax in 1984, left it in a dusty attic for 30 years then transferred it to DVD. I honestly think I've seen better quality bootlegs sold in a flea market. The visuals are badly degraded, but the audio is even worse - even listening with earphones barely makes it audible. Very disappointing, and far below acceptable standards for retail.
