This is a great book for journal prompts
This is a great book for journal prompts. It asks probing and thoughtful questions. A must for anyone in OA or anyone wanting to understand compulsive over eating. It may help you understand why you eat the way that you do which can lead to overcoming the difficulties of eating disorders. I utilize customer reviews heavily when I am trying to decide on a purchase and consider reviews a valuable tool for us as consumers to make informed choices as to where we spend our money. Sometimes I will come back and give more information should I notice new things along the way. When looking at reviews I do take into consideration personal preference that may not reflect the product itself. I will do my best to acknowledge when something in my review is personal preference as opposed to something about the product itself. Great book
This is a great book for those who are ready to confront their overeating issues. Nicely laid out and really gives a great in depth approach to issues that need to be handled. It starts out pretty easy. You read this and say " I can do this" and then works it's way into some deeper topics. Other books I looked into were too deep to fast and I know many people get overwhelmed that way. I look forward to using this book many times in the future.

Help if you're really serious
This book will help you to explore your inner self and your reasons for overeating. It is not light, fun reading. It is a serious book and it demands that you be serious and honest with yourself in order to successfully learn how to abstain from overeating. The steps are simple to understand. Being honest with yourself about your eating habits is not at all simple. A very helpful book when you're ready for that challenge.

OK For Beginners, Not Recommended For Journalers
I do better with a blank book and my own thoughts on overeating and its ups and downs. I ended up skipping whole sections of this book. Maybe I'll go back to them. I think it would be find for someone who doesn't habitually write (I do) or have a lot of insight into their issues yet. I wouldn't buy it again.

Great reflective tool
Although I've only started this journal, it's been very helpful so far. Trying to be honest with myself is sometimes difficult and facing up to a problem with eating is not easy. The journal, provides a nice reflective tool that has helped me stay "on track" for the past 36 days...one day at a time. Feeling better about myself and in less pain physically b/c of dropping some weight without being "on a diet"!

Great Book
Debbie Danowski’s book, The Overeater’s Journal: Exercises for the Heart, Mind & Soul is not just a book to read; it is a tool for becoming aware of one’s own reasons and triggers around food & emotional eating. Ms. Danowski was once over 300 lbs. and has managed to release the excess weight and keep it off for decades. Each day begins with an introduction followed by journal prompts which ask 3 – 4 questions for you to explore the daily concept more in-depth to your own experience. In the book, Ms. Danowski also offers suggestions for taking control of one’s life around food. First off, by becoming conscious and aware of what’s really in your food, followed by making a plan for better food choices and alternative behaviours to avoid emotional eating: find a friend to talk to, go for a walk, etc.GREAT BOOK!!If one is rigorously honest with themselves throughout this process, one can gain a lot of insight and tools to recover from food addiction.I highly recommend it.
