Love all of your books!
I’ve used your books a reference for a couple of years. I’ve made the horse bows as well as the flutes. Great work and thanks for your knowledge.

Nicholas has expanded what's possible to make out of PVCs pipe
So why should you purchase this book? Anyone can drill holes in a PVC pipe, however Nicholas spends the time to show you how to do it right. He really gets into the finer details. The sizes of the holes and distance matter as well as how you finish them. He takes the time to show you all of the steps required to make several different types of Spirit Flutes.

Great project guide
Heartfelt endeavor and useful flute making information here. Can tell Nicholas really had a love and passion for sharing passed-on culture. Will be using his design for school project. Editorial and spelling errors on pgs 38 and 64 don't deter from overall use. Good dimensioning illustrations. His video is also good.

It seemed to cover everything. I haven't had time to make one yet, but it appears to be a complete and reasonably easy to understand set of instructions. I definitely will be making one in the near future.

Make your own music from plastic pipe!
An interesting book on making simple but satisfying musical instruments that will give hours of pleasure. The author goes through a bit of the history of the instrument as well as explaining how to make, and play, the instruments and if you can play a tin whistle, that is about as complicated as it gets. As for using PVC, I have several PVC whistles, and know how suitable it is for whistle-making, not just because its pretty tough, but because you can get a lovely tone out of a length of plumbing or furniture pipe! The author gives several examples of how you can decorate your flutes if you want to make them more personal. The instructions are simple to follow and diagrams show you where to drill the holes to make the sound so these are good family projects. There are six flutes in all including a transverse flute with 6 holes like a small Irish flute, a 4 hole ocarina, 2 Irish or penny whistles, a nose flute, and a notched flute from Japan, complete with instructions on how to play them. You don't need to be able to read music to play these flutes, just have a reasonable ear and be able to follow diagrams. There are plenty of books here on Amazon as well, both in hard copies and Kindle editions, should you need help and don't know what to play.If you want to start making instruments but are nervous about using rare woods, this is the ideal starter book and will give you a good grounding in how a simple flute makes a sound without getting too technical. And if you never make anything more complicated than these six flutes, you will have hours of pleasure making them and getting a piece of plastic to do your bidding. It may even lead to a handy sideline in keeping the neighbourhood kids amused, and a few adults too!
