Best book on specific colors to bring out your own, individual beauty
I've never understood why everyone doesn't use color theory. I discovered the original "Color Me Beautiful" in the late 70's and have used it since then, but with refinements. Then I found "Color Me Beautiful's Looking Your Best" and realized I'd been refining my colors along the lines of what Mary Spillane did with subdividing the original 4 seasons into 12 divisions. This is the best way to use "your" colors, imo. It has deepened my understanding of color "seasons" and the subtleties of each season. I find I look better as I age and use my colors only, and have a deeper idea of how to use different colors in my season as my coloring fades as I get older. Truly a wonderful tool if you want to look good at all ages.

Great content but they need to write a book for the times!
Great content. I wish the authors would update their content and have a new book released. There are some outdated ideas about women being stay at home moms and corporate wives so this book for 2020 would be great!

This expanded view of the Seasonal Color system is just the right thing.
I haven't gotten into all the makeup colors that are right for me yet, because I've used the system successfully for 30 years. I've really been able to help a friend find the right lipstick though. I'm a Spring and my three closest friends are all Summers. I knew they weren't quite the same, though, and after reading the book I understand they're each a different type of Summer. It's been helpful for all of us. Wish I'd known about the book sooner!

A must have to understand how to wear color
Must have to learn how to wear color, very understandable. There are many copies and reiterations of this book so take care not to buy 2 or 3 of the same infoThis book is a great book to understand and enter into the market. I bought the whole series and read them from cover to cover. This is not for the advanced student, but the beginner.I also think that fashion designers should have a thorough understanding of color theory, which is really not taught that much or well. It is also a very complex subject to learn and understand. BUT!!!!! There is hope!!!if you want to know about Color theory to get even better....COLOR WORKS, the crafter Guide to Color by Deb MenzFOR ANYONE who wants to know about Color Theory this test breaks it down so that ANYONE can understand this subject. I learned more about color theory in this book than all others put together because I now "Understand" the concept. While this book is for the textile artist, ALL artists should get it and is also has cut outs to use when choosing your colour palette whether it be for Fashion Design or Art.This book is a MUST HAVE!!!!

Still the Best -- After All These Years
It's the end of 2007. I live in L.A., where staying on the cutting edge of fashion is practically blood sport (pun intended), and I can't believe I'm saying this: I bought this book on a whim. I found a cheap, used copy and thought, "Why not?" When I found tons of useful information, including the first correct "diagnoses" of my season AND my body type, I just about fell out of my chair.I've tried the original CMB, and the supposedly new-and-improved methods by Doris Pooser and Leatrice Eisemann. They don't hold a candle to this method of finding your best colors and styles. Instead of three color palettes (Eisemann), four (the original CMB), or six (Pooser), Spillane and Sherlock give us twelve to choose from, and a simple rule for expanding our palettes as designers present new colors. If, like me, you don't fit comfortably in the more limited seasonal/time-of-day systems, you'll find yourself here (people of color are included and well represented). When you find your best colors, wearing an actual color (instead of the ubiquitous black) makes you look and feel sophisticated, stylish, and au courant. This method even works when you want -- or need -- to blend in or present a conservative image. What a relief, and what a pleasure!Spillane and Sherlock don't just give advice on finding the best clothes for your figure; they actually include a formula. All you need is a tape measure to figure out your bodyline. Then, just follow their advice, and you're on your way.Other reviewers have mentioned the outdated illustrations and the crayon-style swatches. The bad news is that books, like styles, go out of date. The good news is that, armed with your favorite Internet search engine; the name of your new, expanded season; and a well-constructed search term (like, say, "cool summer" + swatches), you can find several ways to buy fabric swatches in this expanded seasonal color system. With this book and your fabric swatches in hand, you can't go wrong. And, maybe, if enough people ask for it, they'll publish a new edition of this book, or create a web site where styles and photos can be regularly updated.

this is not good color analysis
Carole Jackson would turn over in her grave. These people mix colors--they for some reason do not realize that you cannot be both a warm and a cool tone. Please never follow the advice in this book regarding what colors to wear. The only reason I gave it a two is that it had some other advice that actually was good, like what to wear with a long or short waist.

Adds several between-seasons to the original Color Me Beautiful book.
Even though it's from the 90's, the principles are right on. If you want color, texture, shape defined and use your imagination to adjust a couple of trends to update...this is a find!

Classic Color Theory, plus
This book, while it shows its age, is a great expansion on color theory for clothing and makeup because it also takes into account different levels of intensity/contrast in skin, eye and hair color. A classic and required reading for anyone interested in personal color analysis.

Ovviamente è in inglese.
