Very Satisfying
I love crime thrillers in the ilk of Baldacchi and Grisham, and stumbled upon Scott Pratt after "tasting" other authors' offerings. A good story does not need explicit sex and foul language to catch my interest, so I was pleased that Scott Pratt focused on a decent, moral, family-centered protagonist in Joe Dillard. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading Scott Pratt's entire catalog.

I'm new to Scott Pratt's books and so far I've been enjoying his Joe Dillard series. I like his character . Joe Dillard's a good lawyer, family man and has good morals.I like how Pratt keeps you guessing who the murderer is. I can't wait to read book 4!

Two thumbs up for Scott Pratt
This is the 3rd book that I have read by Scott Pratt and all 3 (1st through 3rd of Joe Dillard series) are winners and were hard to put down. After reading An Innocent Client (1st of Joe Dillard series) I was hooked. I have long been a fan of John Grisham and James Patterson but Scott Pratt can hold his own in their shadow.I was very sorry to have found out that he has passed away. My condolences to his family and pray that his gifted writing skills have been passed on to his son.

Good reading
I just wish everyone didn't have blue or green eyes and Sandy blond hair. I'm feeling a bit of redundancy

Really loving this Joe Dillard series
I follow Michael Connelly, Grisham, Gristeen etc and I am always on look out for new authorsScott Pratt is my new favourite! I've been reading the books in order and just finished No.3 Injustice for All and I'm going to download No.4 now.You could probably read each book on it's own as Pratt includes little resumes within each book to cover events from previous books, not required when reading back to back but otherwise a useful refresher. Each book covers interesting crimes following through to the court system. I love the main character Joe Dillard and all the other characters are well written and interesting. There are touching moments relating to his wife's illness but this is not a 'cancer novel'. The author has obviously had personal experience dealing with cancer judging by the detail he provides without being too graphic.I have tended to scan read the 'army' sections, personally I'm just not interested unless it relevant to story but accept others will enjoy these elements and it does add to Joe's character background.Overall these are really good reads, looking forward to next book

Murder at the DA's office
This is the third book of the series I've read on my Kindle. It is by Scott Pratt, who has now won his place on my preferred author list. This book is part of the series involving Joe Dillard, lawye, who advances from defence attorney to Assistant DA.An unpopular judge is found hung and burnt close to his home and suspicion falls upon the son of a defence lawyer [who had committed suicide as a result of this judge's actions in getting him struck-off, thus being unable to work and has become broke. Also, a friend of Joe Dillard]. joe Dillard's wife becomes involved in destroying vital evidence to protect the boy suspected of the murder.A young female eployee of the DA's office disappears and the DA becomes implicated. Not as complicated as this review may sound - in fact the story flies along with the speed of an exocet missile with surprising consequences as it reaches its climax.A must for readers who enjoy legal thrillers.

Too much misery
I really like the author's writing style and certainly he has the ability to grip the reader. For that I would certainly give him 5 stars. Yet for the second book running I found the level of misery too much. In the second book of the series it was cancer and I can't reveal it in this one without giving some of the plot away. I realise in any thriller there has to be a degree of violence but there is a line wich, if crossed, the misery becomes too depressing. Real life is bad enough without adding to it unnecessarily. I wonder if the author has suffered in some terrible way.If you like misery then dont let me put you off. I will certainly read the 4th in the series but not until I have read a couple of Robert Parker or David Rosenfelt first to lighten my mood.

Joe Dillard does the right thing, again.
Having worked as a criminal defender, then changing to a prosecutor in books one and two, Joe has another change of pace when he refuses to try a suspect in a murder case. This is not the genre I would usually read, but I picked it up between my usual stories and now I'm hooked, book 4 is reeling me in.

Good story
A gripping tale, with very believable characters. I was so wrapped in the story that time stood still. I real care what happens to the people affected by this tale, it is so well written. Look forward to the next book.
