Don't get them wet.
I ordered this crucible a long time ago for a project I was working on, but it turned out not to fit into the foundry I was using at the time, so it sat in the garage until I recently built a new foundry specifically to use this crucible. The first time I used it, it worked great. I was able to melt down about 5-6 lbs of aluminum for the first pour, and then I put it back into the heat and did another one right away.Last night I tried to the do the same thing again, but ran into some problems with my crucible exploding... Turns out that these don't have to exposed directly to liquid water in order for them to absorb enough to cause damage. Being in a damp environment was enough to cause this to be dangerous. Thankfully nobody was hurt in the process, but it make a sound about as loud as a 9mm being fired off when it exploded. So, a word of warning to anyone who is thinking about purchasing this, or any of the other sizes clay graphite crucible available on amazon: make sure that you store these in the driest location possible since damp air can cause them to absorb enough water to explode.

100% satisfied
Product was shipped and delivered earlier than projected. It worked well on first use and seems to be a sturdy item for many melts to come. I wouldn't order unless you are comfortable with handling molten metals due to the size, 8"tall and 6" opening at the top and about 3/4" walls make this thing pretty heavy when loaded. I will definitely order again

This is a very decent crucible. Do not use ...
This is a very decent crucible. Do not use when it has been exposed to moisture, it will have an explosive effect. Bring it up to temp slowly. temp rating is higher than listed i got it up to 3000 degrees with out a hich though i do not advise it.

heavy but good quality.
Great crucible, just keep it away from moisture like other people here are mentioning. Do not leave it outside. Also this crucible is very heavy and difficult to pour. The most expensive and heavy duty crucible tongs on amazon have flimsy reviews so you may want to look into having them custom made somewhere.

Great for Aluminum smelting
Works great. Withstands temperatures in my blast furnace of over 2800 degrees fahrenheit with no issue. From my experience, this product can hold about 11 pounds of aluminum, which is about 350 soda cans. Amazing product!!

Heavy
Real heavy took a lot of pressure to lift it from the furnace. With having to squeeze it hard or low quality it cracked the second time I used it. I don’t know which one or both that cracked it.

beware of moisture
I actually bought two. This first one performed awesome in my foundry. After I got done forging I left it outside and the moisture got to it and it shattered the second time I tried to use it. The second crucible has been used many times and now I bring it inside when I'm done and I've had no problems.
