Dose of TRUTH and lesson on reality!
Everyone has their opinions and expectations of why they buy a certain product…. I get it! Instead of finding inferior instruction on the topic or rambling…some reviewers felt this way clearly, I found the entire book quite refreshing with a clear and sound opening on one’s right to self defense in general and with a knife. That’s how it should be…if you are looking purely for complicated knife tactics from finish to end without any foundation to the topic at hand and a philosophical approach to that foundation then you will find nothing of value here for you. If you want some solid background on why you are using a weapon…specifically a knife, then drink from the well that this author is offering and you may find more than a few nuggets of gold! And no, I do not personally know the author. I had never heard of him before coming across this particular book. However, I do know the Spirit of the man and the discernment he has. He has much wisdom to share.

Simple, straightforward and to the Point: no fluff
The author has presented a beautiful way of describing defensive knife fighting. I didn’t really know what to expect until I read his book. I agree with it. I train in JDK and my Sifu is Tommy Carruthers. He, too, is very direct and simple. He is very practical and very quick to point out movement that is excessive. I, training in my system, Cobalt Self-Defenses Tactics, highly stress JKD principles throughout my martial art/self-defense art. The simplicity of this material presented here is what I have learned in Krav Maga and from Marines whom I have trained with..Keep it Simple Sir.The simple cutting method, the Bai Jong, footwork, movement all flow fromJKD as presented here and it is refreshing to read how JKD principles are applied to self-defense knife tactics. In Cobalt Self-Defense Tactics,we train the basics… and everything is basic. The advanced moves are…. The basic techniques performed faster. This author teaches the basics of knife self-defense. I’m definitely implementing it in my system.

Good text to go with video
I teach arts within the same family of styles taught by Sifu Jason Korol and have studies several knife fighting systems. While good and effective most systems are designed to be used with tactical/hunting knives or big agricultural knives up to short sword size which are impractical and illegal to carry. And, most styles were designed for battlefield or dueling and go rapidly to lethal, which is not suitable for most self-defense situation.Sifu Jason shows a simplified set of techniques derived from fencing and JKD appropriate for the use of the street-legal folding knife that can be used in common self-defense scenarios. In addition he has articulated the ethics of self-defense, a crucially important and often overlooked part of the mindset of self-protection.

Warrior Philosopher Teaches A Cornucopia of Lessons
For starters, the author writes one of the best explanations of the right to self-defense that I've ever read. His insight into the way the mind learns physical skills, and then has to act under stress is unprecedented. And to top it all off, the clear detail in description of knife use and technique is simple, and with the addition of some well placed photos, I feel like I could teach myself what I need to know to survive a sudden violent encounter when armed with nothing but a small folding blade. If you want to know key principles in self defense and learn a little about Bruce Lee, Jeet Kun Do, and knives along the way, then read Way of the Blade NOW.

Way more than just knife-fighting techniques
I just read chapter 1, and felt compelled to pause to write a review. I haven’t even gotten to the knife fighting aspect of the book, and have already gotten my money’s worth.

The most simple yet effective way of the blade . Korol is a natural at teaching . Great book !
Excellent explanation on how to use a blade for self defense . I think for the common man , the JKD knife way is the most uncomplicated and best way for the blade . Korol is a very good teacher . Loved the book !

Too simple
This method is like an instructor once said to me, this is so simple it must be true. Excellent lay out and progressive order in presentation. Too much we have forgot a great reminder for all.

A whiny, name dropping fraud of a book with no content.
Some of the book reviewers noted that this book is heavily laden with preachy social rhetoric, especially the first 6 out of 9 chapters. This is true, and is nothing more than filler by an "author" who has very little to say. I usually read book reviews on Amazon before purchasing them, and they are usually not too far off of the mark. All I can say about the 80% 5-star reviews of this book is that they must have been submitted by "author's" friends because the reviews couldn't be further from the truth.Actually if this "book" had the rambling filler stripped away one would be left with a short article as there is only one technique presented. This is a forward thrust technique, which is taken from the jab in boxing, the lunge in fencing or the first and the most basic knife fighting strike taught in the Marine Corps. Although there is some explanation of footwork to support the jab, the maneuver has nothing to do with JKD, but is rather the author's attempt to drape a simple technique with the cloak of Bruce Lee. By hyping the thrust as his great JKD knife fighting technique, and dropping JKD names like machine gun fire from a B-52, the "author" bobs and weaves between ridiculousness and fraud. So here is the bottom line: This is one of the worst books I have purchased and read in years. It is mostly filler, has almost nothing to offer on it's claimed subject. It is a rambling, name dropping bore with claims of association with Bruce Lee and JKD. which are crap.I rarely write a review, actually only when a book is really good or really bad. This one is the ladder, so be warned. This one will be a waste of your time and money, and the "author" should be ashamed of this blatant rip-off money grab.

Basic JKD inspired Blade work
Not a bad wee book, alot of information contained within, not a technique based book, but knife work inspired by JKD principles which basically the snap cut which is useful but don't expect alot more than a basic concept of blade use based on JKD

Simple
Simple and straightforward. This book, the authors message and defensive-offensive training outline, is excellent in it’s presentation. It is not complicated, but a clear and concise formula for any individual (male or female) who is confronted with such situations. The moral lessons take up perhaps too many of the pages and can be repetitive. However, it is sound advice and many should heed to the outlining thought process when faced with such challenges. It won’t be a good read for hard core fight enthusiasts, nor is it intended to be, but for the rest, sound wisdom.Good use of humour in between sections of a serious topic.
