Nonstop action! Excellent series!
It's not often I find a complete series that I have to binge read it all because it's THAT good and I can't read anything else until I get this story and it's characters out of my head. That's what the Collapse series has been for me. It's so well written that the pages just flow by and the action is nonstop so you are quickly turning each page eagerly waiting to see how the characters survive through each situation thrown at them.I ran across this series while posting a DNF review for a zombie apocalypse book in a series that I thought I would enjoy. The Collapse series isn't about zombies but it is about an apocalypse. In book one, State of Emergency, the United States is hit with an EMP (Electric Magnetic Pulse) which takes out anything that runs on computer based technology: all vehicles, all phones, airplanes, all technology. Los Angeles is the city where our main girl, Cassidy, is living when the EMP hits. She sets out in an old Mustang her Dad had restored since it wasn't affected by the EMP. Being an older vehicle it doesn't have an electronic chip in its engine. Along the way to the rendezvous point she and her Dad had set in the event of a catastrophe, she meets up with a wounded former Navy SEAL named Chris. Book three begins 7 months after the EMP hit and picks up right where the big events at the end of book two, State of Chaos, left our characters.Chris and Cassidy have been through a LOT together. They have grown closer because of what they've been through and have grown to have great affection for one another. Cassidy has verbalized her feelings for Chris, and though Chris hasn't said those three words back to her, his actions show time and again how much he cares for her and the lengths he is willing to go to protect her.In this part of their story, they fear that Omega is sending in backup troops to take out the West Coast. The East Coast was hit with the first wave of an invading army - after the major cities were nuked and after the EMP hit. Cassidy and Chris have started their own militia and are calling themselves Freedom Fighters and are committed to doing whatever they can to stop Omega from succeeding in their mission. When I say nonstop action - this whole story really is. Things always seem to go from bad to worse...and as we grow closer to our main characters, the heart strings get pulled as you worry over them and their dangerous missions.A new side character that really shines in this story is Manny. Loved him!Fans of movies and shows like Red Dawn and Revolution will enjoy this series!Favorite Quotes:Where I'm covered in scars and freckles, she's perfect. Where my hair looks like the TV commercial for a chia pet, hers looks like a salon advertisement for Vidal Sassoon. Figures I'd get stuck with her.I need Chris more than I need anyone else. Even if the entire war against Omega is an utter failure and we all end up enslaved, if I have Chris, I can survive."I'll always need you," I repeat as we pull into the base. He pauses and looks at me, green eyes brimming with emotion. "And I will always need you," he says."Not everything is so black and white, my girl. Success and failure isn't just win or lose in this situation. It's progress. It's pushing back. It's standing up for our homeland. If you start thinking about everything that might happen, you'll drive yourself out of your head."They forced my hand. They expected us to surrender silently. They underestimated our will. And now they are paying the price.Final Rating - 4 stars

Transforming
In Matthew 18:3 we read: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.'" Why does Jesus say we should be like little children? Because they have open minds and are willing to learn how to live their lives from how they are taught. The smartest thing I can say is "I Don't Know " I've been saying, and living this for almost 20 years. I just now saw the connection to this scripture.Life is about a heart condition. But the problem centers in the mind . This is why Paul tells us "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind "The true way to be transformed is by reading the instructions. The manufacturers handbook, basic information before leaving earth.; ~ PB

Excellent......excellent!
I didnt think it could get any better after the first two books in this series.....wrong! I have never liked reading war stories...ever...until now! This author gets down to the raw emotion...fear, anxiety, adrenaline rushing, action packed and just plain sad all mixed in with the thrill of the unknown and the pain of total loss! I read this book in less than a day and am purchasing the next installment now.....cannot stop reading...two and a half days and Im starting the fourth book in a very exciting drama.....what a plot! Never read anything quite like this and totally recommend this series to everyone! Im no great patriot, but I can absolutely say, with no doubt, that I would fight to the death given similar circumstances. A must read!

This is one of my favorite series in this genre
I am new to the appocoliptic genre, I even held out in a house full of teenage boys and a husband that waits all week for the Walking Dead. Unfortunately, I caved this pased weekend and watched until I am current. This is one of my favorite series in this genre. Ill be happier when I can finish it. Summer Lane does a wonderful job of bringing characters to life with distinct personalities, makes you fall in love with them, and then you are on the edge of your seat as the preverbrial hits the fan....waiting to see how it is all going to work out. A wonderful read esecially is you have a day or so to disapear into the storyline.

Someone needs to proofread the grammar.
Okay, so it might seem a bit like I'm a grammar Nazi, but come on, this is a published book. If used as a subject, "Chris and I" is correct, however, if used as a preposition or objective clause "Chris and me" would be how it should be written. As in: "She falls into step with Manny and me." instead of how it is written on page 95 "She falls into step with Manny and I." Makes me feel like someone is scraping a chalkboard with their fingernails.Better grammar would have earned five stars.

Excellent writer
This 2nd in a series book is as great as the first. Ms. Lane continues the "personalities" of the characters and writes a great story line. No doubt, Ms. Lane will write forever and be forever successful. Somewhere, I read that the author is about 23 or 24-years-old. These books do NOT reflect her age, other than perhaps Cassidy's persona. Again, the story is great, the characters true-to-life and the books hold wisdom beyond the author's years. A GREAT story!!I could not put the book down and I cannot wait for the next!

book # 3 of the series, and waiting
Problem is by the time the next part comes, i'll have read a dozen more books and either forgotten my entheusiam for the story, or more likely forgotten the story. An intreaging series so far, just wish i could get to the end while the characters and situation is fresh in my mind. Doubt i'll try #4. Just have to assume they found each other, won the war and live happy ever after.

This series just continues on with great characters, a really good story line
State of Rebellion by Summer LaneThis series just continues on with great characters, a really good story line, and really easy to read. Summer Lane has done a fantastic job of writing a series that is fun to read, easy to read, and after each book, you just want the next one. Each time the series develops a little more and so have the characters. It hasn't stalled, the characters haven't grown stagnant, it continues to develop and grow.Along the way, Cassidy is still a great character and highly amusing. The whole series is worth reading.

A great third installment!
The Collapse Series is turning out to be one of the best series I've read in a long time. After the sudden cliffhanger of State of Chaos, Cassie is yet again, in the think of it - Only this time the danger has escalated. With a solid group of friends around her Cassie perseveres through the EMP strike. Chris is mouth watering; steady and calm and a great source of motivation and determination for Cassie as they both face new challenges. This story takes you up and down with a lot of major twists and turns. I read the book in a day, again, which I tried not to do because now I have to wait even longer for book 4.An excellent read from Miss Lane and I strongly recommend it.
