A Travel Journal & Sketchbook (Signature Journals) Diary – October 8, 2013

I found this at Ross for $5 bucks and instantly loved it for myself and thought it would make a great gift for a travel loving friend too, but it happened to be the last one left. So after searching in multiple other Ross stores like on some crazy scavenger hunt, I decided to pony up the few bucks and get it here on Amazon.The book is intended for jotting down one's thoughts, and adventures while on their travels. On each left side page on the bottom is an inspirational quote in regard to life in general, and on each right side page up on top is a small religious inspired quote. I don't consider myself a very religious person, nor is my friend who I intend to give this to, so it's not so religious that it would offend anyone. All the quotes are simply wonderful little affirmations and inspirations.The paper is nice and thick feeling and an old world brown/tan color, and all the right side pages are lined while the left side is blank for scribbles, or pasting photos or mementos of the trip. It has a very nice and strong feeling hard cover with an elastic around it to secure it closed. It also has a ribbon page marker as well. In the back cover is a nice little paper slot to slide in little mementos like receipts or photos from the trip.It will fit nicely in any travel bag and I feel it's just the right size for traveling with. Not too big or small. In this age of typing everything with our thumbs on tiny little I-screens, to have a little book like this in which to pick up a pen to write thoughts and scribbles is actually refreshing and would make a wonderful little gift for anyone with a love for travel.

I especially like the unlined pages on the left side and lined on the right since I like to make lists of interesting things as well as write text. It was a little larger than some other travel journals I've used but over time, I have come to like the larger format. The quotes are a delightful addition.

A little too "holy" for a travel journal. The listing didn't mention that this journal is religious. Every page has a bible verse on it. Maybe a good gift for a good Christian jet setter. I hope it's not blasphemous that I'm returning it... It's also rather heavy and doesn't lay flat to write it.

I bought this as a gift, but didn't realize that it was filled with religious quotes. This feature wasn't highlighted in the description. I ended up giving it to local book sale as I couldn't use it as originally intended. Very disappointed.

Haven't actually used it, but it is exactly what I expected. I plan on using clear gesso on the blank pages so I can paint/watercolors.
