NIV, True Images: The Bible for Teen Girls, Leathersoft, Brown

My daughter and I looked at a number of bibles (both via on line reviews and in stores) before settling on the True Images teenage bible. We are both very, very happy with the purchase. My daughter finds the various comment boxes and study guides that are placed alongside the text very useful - and there are several. (with headings such as "genuine", "love notes" and "truth or dare.") Her personal favourite is the "Genuine" comment boxes that touch on themes such as "courage", "wisdom", "friendship", "strength," "generosity", "respect", "faith" and so on. The "Genuine" comment boxes (and there are dozens of them) are linked to the passage in the corresponding text and pose really great questions that encourage reflective learning.Another feature that my daughter likes are the "love notes" text boxes, that are likewise scattered throughout the text. These are also designed to encourage reflective learning and engage the reader in the narrative. For example, the love note for Ruth 4 is about trusting God in hard times and finishes by posing the question - "What difficult situation in your life would you like God to change?" In Isaiah 36 the love note question is "Describe the way of holiness. Are you walking in it?" For Romans 8 the love note asks the reader to reflect on the attitudes, thoughts behaviours that make them feel separated from God; and to comment on the comfort they personally draw from Romans 8.There are a bunch of other reading/study aids all through the text. The "truth or dare" text boxes contain one sentence "highlights" on a key theme in that particular segment of the bible text. The introductions to each book of the bible are also really well written and place the book into a context that makes sense to a teenage girl growing up in a western culture in the 21st century.As a father, I am delighted that my daughter now has a bible that is bringing the Scripture to life for her, and as a result she is keen to read it. She has had her copy of True Images for just over three weeks - and every other day she is telling me about something she has read or learned - or wants to talk to me about. Which is just fantastic. The True Images teenage bible is the outcome of some very savvy people wrapping some great resources around the NIV, in an overall package that is attractive to the target audience and engages the reader wonderfully. Perfect!

I got a couple of these for young friends who are interested in reading the Bible. The Reina-Valera version is so complicated, and a big thick impersonal book is intimidating and uninviting for a vibrant young girl.This True Images Bible is very attractive and inviting for young girls, and I am certain that my young friends will enjoy reading this.The book is peppered with focus stories, commentaries and other effects that facilitate the reader to contemplate how the related Bible passages relate to them and their lives. These commentaries deal with subjects like God's love, prayer, immigration, loneliness, family, drugs, various topics related to sex and dating as well as other topics of interest to young people.The sex and dating subjects may cause a parent to have reservations about giving this to their daughter, but they shouldn't. These issues, truth be told, will one day have to be addressed by every young person, and the manner in which these issues are addressed in this book are not inappropriate but addressed in a caring yet direct manner. They could also be used by the concerned parent to facilitate a discussion on these touchy issues.The book also has a subject index and other useful and interesting features including an explanation of the gospel and an invitation to receive Jesus Christ as personal Savior.

I bought this for my eleven year old. Its absolutely awesome. Not only does it have scripture written so that the child can understand, but it also engages them with different side notes and "truth or dare" questions throughout. This is a great bible to read with your pre-teen or teen. I think it brings it down to a level where not only can the child understand it, but it also makes it possible for the parent and child to connect on a mid way level so to speak. It does not come across as a "little kids" bible so that your child isn't insulted, but is written enough on their age level that they are able to understand more on their own without the frustration of trying to interpret a more difficult adult version. Aesthetically the book is beautiful, the cover will last a long time, and the print on the sides of the pages is unique and very appealing, its one of the first things my daughter noticed. I will be buying another one soon for my other daughter. Wonderful purchase.

As a father and Christian I was so happy with the content of this Bible. My daughter is 13, a Christian, and collects Bibles, this is by far the most extensive and appropriate Bible for her age group we have ever found. The extra materials in the Bible help young ladies deal with real world situations using biblical references. The beautiful leather cover art and the layout art in the book itself makes it interesting to the teen age group it is targeted for. I highly recommend this Bible to any parent who wants their teen to take a deeper interest in reading the Bible. By the way my daughter was the one who requested this Bible, she was at a church retreat and another girl had it, my daughter is thrilled with it.

I'm sixteen and I bought the bible for myself and this is the best bible I have ever had. I absolutely love the content in this bible. The little love notes, the "truth or dares" all of it. It even has a good list of devotionals in the back, perfect! However nice the content of the bible was, it wasn't as aesthetically pleasing as I thought it would be. The inside design I'm fine with and I greatly enjoy, but the outside is a bit ehhhh. First, the picture made the bible look black, what I was hoping for, but when I got the bible I found out it was brown, a huge shock to me. Second, like other people said, the page edging can be very distracting. I've only had it for a week, so I think I can overcome the design, I just wanted to let y'all know. I highly recommend this bible to any teen girl or even college girl :)

Bought this for my 12 year old daughter for her birthday. The leather is so soft and beautiful. The added 'teen' content is awesome. Very happy with my purchase, and my daughter loves it!

All the pink-edged pages were stuck together so I spent 2 hours peeling 1650+ pages apart before my daughter's birthday. Additional content is great

Bought as a gift. Haven't heard negative from it.
