Excellent Brush.
High quality, shaving since 1953, (70 years) and this is a fine brush. Bought this brush several years ago and is well broken in. Does not shed, or smell.

Break In The Brush First. Then, Love It Forever.
A wonderful brush, but it needs to be broken in.Notice how it feels on your skin right out of the package. Gently rub it on the sensitive skin on the inside of your forearm near the elbow. A little rough maybe?Yes, you can use it right away, but break it in before using it if you can, and it will be vastly softer, and better in all respects. Here's how. First, wash the bristles with your hair shampoo and water. Just swirl the brush in the soapy water a bunch of times. Not too rough. Then, rinse your SOC very well with cool water. Next, soak the brush in a mug of cool water for five or ten minutes (no longer). Shake out most of the water, using a few gentle shakes of the brush. Next, get a regular dry bath towel and rub the tips of the bristles on the towel. Rub the brush in circular patterns, and in patterns like painting, and any other patterns that come to mind. You're not rubbing especially hard, and not pushing down on the brush to make it splay out, but just sort of trying to dry the brush. Do this for at least a couple of minutes. Ten minutes if you feel like it. Then, hang the brush, bristles down, in a stand, and leave it alone until tomorrow. Let it fully dry.Tomorrow, do the same thing, but you can skip the shampoo if you want.Do the same every day or two for a week or three. Don't use the brush, just do this daily break in procedure. You'll notice the ends of the boar bristles beginning to split. Split ends are bad on your wife's hair, but good on your boar shaving brush. The more the better. The brush is ready to use when it seems markedly softer than it seemed when it was new, and when it begins to have a somewhat pronounced bloom. You soak the brush before every lather and shave, in case you didn't know that. You rinse it well after every shave, and hang it bristles down to completely dry before its used again.Using the brush to lather and shave, and letting it completely dry between shaves, the brush will continue to break in for a long time, and become softer and softer. This is perhaps the supreme luxury boar brush. Many people think it's the king of shaving brushes. The quality of the boar bristles is unsurpassed. It's a fabulous lather making machine. It is large, but not too large. You are very likely to love the SOC, and use it a lot. Just don't think you can have this or any other boar as your only brush because boars must dry between uses.A nice companion brush to this one is the RazoRock Monster synthetic. As always, Your Mileage May Vary, but this is one of my favorites.

Semogue Owners Club - Pure Bristle Shaving Brush Cherry: in a class of its own. Period.
6/22/2018 Update: My Semogue Owners Club shaving brush has been in service since 1/2/2015( 3 years, 5 months and 22 days).Today, some of the boar bristles started to come loose. My birthday is next month on July 5th, I will order a replacement on that day. I use this shaving brush at least 15 times per month, you do the math. It owes me nothing, best investment on a shaving brush so far. (See attached photo) It is in a class of its own. I will continue to use it until It falls apart completely.——— ———— —————Original review:I purchased the Semogue Owners Club - Pure Bristle Shaving Brush Cherry also known as. - S.O.C.: it is fatter, denser and softer. This is by far the best brush I've ever used! I like this far more than badger hair brushes and it's got a lot of backbone but the bristles are still very soft. It comes with the best boar bristles around. It is super soft.I'm glad I spent the extra money to get this brush because this is probably the only brush I will ever use! I love the knot at 24mm. It's just fantastic, and the Loft at 57mm - combined it has a lot of backbone for face lathering as well as to tackle down hard shaving soaps, yet. Boar bristles are thicker and stronger, so they are naturally a better choice with hard soaps. A softer and much more flexible badger hair will require more work and more time to extract the same quantity of soap, simply because it has less `bite'.It doesn't smell (even if it came with the natural smell of the bristles, you have to conditioned it using your favorite shaving soaps)I read some of the reviews and it is just sure ignorance that I hear.Anyone purchasing the S.O.C. must know that there is a breaking period for any brush. But this boar bristle shaving brush gets even softer with time. The one i got is already great, it can only get better. One of the many benefits of boar bristle:One important point about boar bristles, which is very different from badger, is that a natural boar bristle will split, over time, into 2 or 3 individual `hair tips' connected to the same thick shaft. This gives you the benefit of a finer, thinner and softer hair with the support of a thicker, firmer bristle. If the bristles have been clipped, however, this will not likely happen, as the bristle has likely been cut below the area that would normally split. Also, thinner boar bristles will split less and also less often as will their thicker counterparts.Semogue fine craftsmanship is second to none.
