Blaze and the Gray Spotted Pony (Billy and Blaze)

Wish there was a hardbound version.
This is a short book easily read in 30 minutes or less by an advanced 1st or 2nd grader, though it's probably best for 3rd grader. I only wish there was a hardbound version. It's such a shot story (though lots of nice black and white illustrations), so the paperback version is very flimsy. It's part of a series about the horse Blaze. I bought this one for my granddaughter for sentimental reasons. I won the book in 3rd grade after being chosen "Best Reader". I lost mine years ago, but hoped to give this new version to my granddaughter, sort of as an incentive, though she loves to read. The flimsy quality of the book didn't get the reaction from her I had hoped

Just a nice book
My 7 year old great-nephew is a horse lover. He loved this book. I believe he has read it at least 5 times. He loves the pictures. His biggest disappointment is that the author past away and he cannot send him a letter thanking him for all the great horse stories.

Beautiful books!
My son loves his Billy and Blaze books! Good old-fashioned story telling at a slower pace with beautiful illustrations. My son is 4; he asks for these stories regularly.

Great read for kids
Written before authors had decided to include all the reality details, the Billy & Blaze series is a kid's dream horse story. No concerns about where to keep it, how to feed it, learning to ride, etc. All of that is blessedly assumed to be taken care of. Blaze is a perfect companion for any child and our son wants to hear it read over and over.

Great series for a range of ages
All of the Blaze books are awesome. I run a little library from my home and I can't keep the Blaze books in stock. My son was enthralled with these stories at age 4, and kids up to 2nd grade just love them. The stories are entertaining, and the illustrations are really captivating.

Blaz and the Gray Spotted Pony
All Blaze books are great. If kids love horses they will love this. There is a stage just above learning to read that is great for these books most words are pretty small and basic vocabulary. My daughter it was second grade a good reader might be ready for around the end of first grade. Even a third and fourth grader will enjoy reading it but it won't be challenging. I enjoyed hearing my daughter read it to me.
