Builders Best 010175 Dryer Vent Periscope

This works well as advertised. Be aware that these products in general are fairly thin and fragile. This one is no exception. Do not expect this to provide any support or structure to your installation. Need to position appliance and wall vent tube carefully. Tube should be well anchored in wall. Easily bent or distorted. Also be sure to tape all seams and corners (with approved tape) before final install, else you will have a very lint filled laundry area. I needed a short reach, which left a lot of unused metal extending beyond the end of the box. Helped with install and sealing to cut off excess. It helps to have small hands and long arms to reach behind the dryer when installing.

Product is well-made, and is a good idea. But-at least for my application- needs a few design tweaks. First, because of the very nature of its design (the sliding size-adjustment) it's not an airtight (i.e. lint-free) seal. That's not a biggie, as it's still seems pretty good (Im guessing). Also, I thought I could just put some vent tape on it to seal it , but that would prove harder said than done.Second, the offset that I have to work with is 3". Vertical. Lining this thing up and then seating the vent was impossible due to the closeness of the dryer exhaust to the wall and floor. I suppose if you pulled the washer out and got at the dryerfrom the side you could get it, but i had a tougher problem.Once I slid the vent to the correct size offset, I had this huge extended bit of the vent metal in the wAy. Hitting the floor. The vent only seats one way ( one side to the dryer, the other to the wall). I'm sure the excess could have been hacksawed off, but that's more project than I was willing to take on.So, in conclusion, this did not work for my application. Back to the crumpled-up coiled foil exhaust hose. Worked fine, anyway, just ugly.

I bought this for a side vent dryer where I wanted a little more flexibility in the installation of a new unit. Keyword: Little This will give you wide range of adjustment but if you're looking for an inch more or less it would take considerable reengineering to make that happen. The primary issue is the angled sheet metal at either end of the rectangle. Those angles make a lot of sense functionally but keep the two ends from getting too close to each other. That kept me from using it and discovering other pluses or minuses.

Why are homes not built better to accommodate our washer and dryers!! This product was a life saver! Easy to manipulate product for what needed it for.

This did not work for my purpose. I was hoping it would attach to my dryer and the wall and eliminate the space the traditional hose takes up. Only 1 of the vents on this is adjustable. I'll provide a picture of my wall and dryer vent later so hopefully it will help you understand if this will work for you.

The concept is great, but it has too many leaks out of the box. I had to completely tape all of the cracks with aluminum tape and then it worked. Tape is cheap. I would still buy one knowing this, but the seller should ship it with the tape, you'll most likely need it.

False hope. Needed to save 1-2 inches of space to be able to install my laundry doors, and this product couldn't deliver vs. the standard foil flexible venting. Worthless. Frustrating.

Really solved my problem in getting my dryer closer to the wall! Took a while to get it installed (just to get the courage to try to squeeze behind there to install it-lol)

Well made dryer vent periscope venting part that fits on slick. Save space, right price when installing your home dryer and washer in a tight space.
