Description of Roselle: · Highly antioxidant, it is popular in other countries where it's used to lower blood pressure. · A red dye is used from the calyces, and a cranberry like jelly can be made that already contains 3% pectin. · Makes an excellent red, cranberry flavored tea than can be sweetened and is delicious. · Boil a few cups of water in a pan and just after it starts bubbling, shut the heat off and throw in a handful of just picked Roselle calyces. (The fleshy outer part after removing the inside seed pod) · Let this mixture sit on the hot stove for 5-10 minutes until the calyx are nearly transparent. After the liquid has cooled enough to drink, add raw, natural, local honey and stir. · We drink this warm as a healing tea at the end of the day but it can be served cold with ice as well. The leftover softened calyx when sweetened a little with honey makes an excellent treat! In the Garden: · Plant seeds a half inch below surface. Plants are quick to germinate; Keep warm and moist being careful not to over water. This is a tropical heat loving plant and when germinating the seeds, you should keep the temperatures between 80-90 degrees and the soil damp for just a few days. Keep in a well-lit area and feed once a month. · Seed will arrive packed inside our 'Zipper bag with Silica Beads ' – Seal bag. They are intended to be stored in the freezer to protect and preserve your seeds, providing many years of excellent germination rates. · Use some seeds now and save the rest to use year after year. You can even collect seeds from your own harvest.

Only a few seeds sprouted
I planted these seeds in small pots early in the spring but I think only one or two came up. I don't know why though. I ended up buying Roselle seeds from the person that I've ordered in past years which did much better in sprouting. I don't know what the difference in the seeds was or why there was a difference. So that's the only reason for the two stars -- these seeds didn't sprout/come up when planted.

Hibiscus tea, anyone?
Very good germination rate and the seedlings are plenty healthy when they come up. I'd recommend these.
