Cutting Tip for solder iron effective on synthetic fabric
I bought this Weller cutting tip as an experiment. I do a fair amount of sewing for my power and sail boat and have to cut Sunbrella and other synthetic fabrics. I needed a way to cut the fabric without the typical fraying that occurs along the freshly cut edge. Sail Rite offers a "hot-knife" that looks great but carries a price tag upwards of $100.00. Thought I'd try a couple of cutting tips that fit into my Weller trigger activated solder iron. I bought the 6110 Cooper Tools Cutting Tip and the Weller RTC 8200 tip. The Copper 6110 arrives in a ready-to-install state with the nuts already installed. It was a 1-minute jobe to remove my original solder iron tip and install the 6100 cutting tip. I plugged in the solder iron and activated the trigger for about 30-seconds and tried to cut a light weight flag nylon. The tip cut effortlessly, cleanly and sealed the edge perfectly. I next tried a typical Sunbrella fabric and had equally good results. If you need a synthetic fabric cutting solution and already own a Weller solder iron, I highly recommend the 6110 tip. The 8200 arrives without the nuts installed so I've yet to try it out to cut nylon line.

Used this product to cut sails, melted sails so they wouldn’t unravel, worked as expected.

These solder tips come in the Package with the Weller 100/140 Solder gun.The tips were required to reach deep into a Garden RR Engine for repair.They got the job done well.... I needed this Flat tip in a pinch.

Use these on my soldering iron to cut paracord
For my needs these are amazing. They not only clean cut and melt the paracord but also I can merge two cords along the edges to create a stronger bond. Wish I thought if this sooner. A true cutter cost $100 or more. This does just as well for near nothing.

Cuts 5 Mil Tarps Like Butter
Needed to cut a large 30' x 40' tarp into about twenty 42" x 15' sections and wanted to avoid fraying. Researched and found this tip to go with my Weller iron and thought I would give it a try. Was very impressed by how well it worked. Probably cut over 250 linear feet of material with no problems and the tip is still in good shape.

Inexpensive new tool!
My soldering gun is now also an excellent tool for cutting plastic. I'd been using a linoleum cutting knife to cut plastic florescent fixture replacements from sheets at Home Depot. What a mess and hassle! With this cheap tip, it was quick and clean, though of course care must be taken with ventilation, safety and work area. Highly recommend!
