Audiobooks are my favorite mode of bringing books that would otherwise be out of the reading range of my inner-city 5th graders. I had a class set of Call of the Wild and purchased the audiobook so that they could read along with the narration. I can also pause the story as it is read, allowing me to explain an unfamiliar context or to ask questions to gauge comprehension.I am unhappy with the way this audiobook has set its presets. Usually, books on CD are given points in the text that are easy to find as presets - the locations on the CD that allow the listener to advance through the reading to find where they left off. Typically, presets are given at chapter starts and then one or two paragraphs into that chapter. NOT THIS ONE! We listened to a chapter a day and I had to struggle to find the next chapter on the following day. Presets were even WITHIN paragraphs! Very impractical for my purposes (and I imagine anyone else).Although the narrator paced the book beautifully and read with sufficient emotion to bring the story to life, I will probably not buy another audiobook produced by Blackstone Audio in the future because its obvious to me now that they aren't using the standard method of arranging audio tracks.

Serves the material well
John Lee does a good job with some great writing. There is nothing worse than reading a classic, then getting the audio version and hearing a ruinous over-the-top or underwhelming depiction. Lee takes the material and handles it with respect and a capable simplicity. He will probably not bowl you over, but likely won't disappoint, either. Plus a great price for two unabridged classics.

But my husband recommended I read " Call of the Wild
I've never been an "animal" book lover. But my husband recommended I read " Call of the Wild." I agreed because it was short. But I ended up LOVING it and I also enjoyed the illustrations throughout. I can't wait to move onto " White Fang" next!!

Wonderful insight into feelings of animals in the wild and in the "care" of men.
This is Jack London - what can I say? If you like animals and enjoy an insight into what their life in the wild is like - and what they may be thinking - and experiencing this is for you. I don't even like dogs and I loved this book. Maybe I should rethink.

Wolf-London audio
Jack London is amazing. Beautifully written, great narration, moving, interesting story. Great for kids (not those with faint hearts for animal brutality). White Fang along with To Build a Fire are my favorite London stories. Wonderful. Want to know even more about the author. Must have been a true warrior in life riding the black horse of maturity and high emotional intelligence.

Great narration
The narration of these classic books is excellent, with the voice of the narrator really bring them to life. The children (8 and 9) were captivated, even though the content of the stories can be quite gory at times.
