A must have for my Chemistry class, and so much less expensive than the bookstore at college.

tough to read and understand for entry level understanding, bad online service homework linked to the book.
had to buy this textbook for an entry level chemistry class, i would normally not write a review on a textbook, but it's really hard to read cause the author is too focused on being 100% right in mathematical and scientific explanations to someone who is just starting out makes things really tough to comprehend and absorb. i think it'd be much more helpful if more down to earth explanations to things more aligned to someone who knows nothing to chemistry would have been a better approach for a entry level book. examples i found myself reading the same pages over and over until i realized that all it was saying was frequency is the opposite of wavelength and light is pretty much just relaxation of orbits which make red green/blue blue and violet, that's just RBG same as hdmi outputs everyone would understand if compared to that. and how the super complex nobel gas electron configuration is just pretty much making the periodic table into an abacus to count the leftover electrons with s p d f categories, of frankly even the odd explanation of the professor saying that ionic bonding is like 2 kids fighting over something. this is an entry level book, explained with high level understanding making it very difficult to follow without several reads.i have found order of introduction issues with questions asked where your asked a question then they explain what they asked several pages later (it is definitely a 1st edition with 1st edition issues). i hope the second edition is better than the first, there's a lot of improvements that are needed for this to be worth the money, i feel the release was rushed probably.much worse than the book, although likely not directly related to this book (and probably not so much related to the author in any way, nor my ratings), the mcgraw connect online homework is garbage that they didn't even look over the answers to the questions correctly as some are wrong and unedited/poorly edited and the questions dont change and i find myself just making second and third attempts faking out the system to get 100% (which ironically does help me learn the material only cause it sucks so bad at doing so itself). opposed to online math homework that actually explain how to work things through as cycle through question pools the mcgraw connect service is a shameless money grab.
