Excellent treatment guide
This book provides a thorough overview of the cognitive model of OCD and a method of treatment based on this model. There is a great deal of interesting information from research studies, and a very clear description of a form of treatment that can be used for people who are afraid of or resistant to exposure therapy. The book is a very helpful source of ideas for assisting people in changing the beliefs and thought processes that are exacerbating their OCD.

Excellent Resource for Treating OCD
I found this book to be an invaluable aid in treating patients with OCD. As many of my patients present with mental rituals, the focus on cognitive processes has been very helpful. I now give the Obsessive Beliefs Questionnaire in the appendix routinely to my patients to give me insight into their belief systems as well as a road-map for treament. A wonderful, research-supported and very readable book!

Incredibly helpful as it gives great actionable steps to counselors in working with clients that are not able to deal with the more extreme methods of dealing with OCD. Explained well thank you

Unfortunately, way too expensive.
This looks like a great book for therapists and patients. Unfortunately, way too expensive for 256 pages. This is a surprise given New Harbinger's commitment to affordability. I've purchased many, many books from NH for myself, our staff, and especially the psychoeducation workbooks for patients for our clinic. Often I am opting for material from NH versus Guilford due to GP's excessive cost. This was a disappointment.

Essential text
This is a well structured and well written book and was an essential item during my training in CBT. I also found that some of the exercises in the book were helpful in treating people with difficulties other than OCD such as perfectionism, desire for certainty etc.
