Excellent. But is it a good value compared to other brands of brown rice?
This is the first time I have bought he Hukkura brand. Generally, I prefer quinoa to rice but quinoa is very expensive though considered nutritionally superior to rice. So I decided to try Hukkura. It's very good. Tastes something like a cross between white and brown bread. I used a pressure cooker with its automatic grain setting. Came out too mushy and somewhat overcooked so next time I will reduce water and cooking time so it will be crisper.I paid $26.00 for the Hukkura 11 lb bag on Amazon. In the grocery store, 2 lb bags of the various types of brown rice range from around $1.90 ($10.45 for 11 lbs) to $4.50 brown organic ($24.75 for 11 lbs). I don't know how most of these others taste, but I suspect the differences would be insignificant at least to me.Nutrition: 1/4 cup of uncooked brown rices varieties are generally about 150-175 calories. The other nutrients differ little except for protein. The protein value is important to me and usually ranges from 2 to 3 grams. Reading the labels, nutritionally, there seems to be is no significant difference among various brown rices and Hukkuara but the price difference is substantially greater. I don't think I will buy Hukkura from Amazon again unless it gets a lot cheaper.UPDATE on May 19, 2018I like this brand more because it's more flavorful:Diamond California Grown Brown Rice in a 2 lb bag. It's whole grain & no Gluten. Also, it is about 1/2 the price of this Hukkura.

good brown rice, medium rather than long grain, cooks more quickly
Surprisingly good rice. This is brown rice but it is also medium grain rather than long grain like basmati, so it has a more thick meaty texture. It's partially milled (?) so it cooks more quickly than usual for brown rice, but you also do have to soak it for 25 minutes or so.It's always tricky getting the exact proportions right, of water vs rice, so that it's not too dry but also not too goopy. Brown rice seems to need less water than white rice. The package for this suggests 10-20% more water than rice, i.e. for 10 parts of rice, add maybe 11 or 12 parts of water. That has worked OK, in an InstaPotty type pressure cooker, the 2 times we've bought this rice.

Great stapl
Very good product! Easy to cook especially if you use a rice cooker or Instapot. Use it for side dish, stir fry, rice pudding, etc.

Good Stuff!!!
I originally bought this because it was the only brown rice I could find available on Amazon. Boy, was I surprised. It is brown rice and it cooks much quicker than most, as it has been partially milled. And I like it. If it is still available I will continue to buy it. When it arrived, I saw that nearly all of the writing on the package was in Japanese, and I did not know just what I'd gotten. I like it better than the run-of-the-mill brown rice that I usually buy in the supermarket. Serendipity in action!

Not much flavor, but could work well for brown sushi-rice. Not really true brown rice.
Firstly, if you are buying this because you want a lower glycemic index over white rice, maybe look elsewhere. This rice cooks and digests like white rice and is not of much benefit even though it is called brown rice.Didn't have many choices for brown rice due to pandemic buying online. This rice is pretty expensive for non-organic stuff. Not a lot of flavor or smell, which would work well for sushi. It cooks soft and sticky compared to other types of brown rice I am used to. I don't know a lot about rice, so the traits are probably on purpose for this type of rice. I'm used to the standard long-grain brown rice that has more flavor and is less sticky. This brown rice seems to need more water than other brown rice, by maybe 30% I think.Good rice if you know what you are getting, which is limited flavor and sticky soft texture which bunches up easily. A great brown rice for sushi, but not as great for normal rice use as a staple for meals. I personally will go with other brands of long-grain brown rice if I have the option in the future, as I don't make sushi at home.
