Linda Kemp's Negative Painting Techniques, Acrylic

Excellent dvd. I really like her approach & have purchased several of her books & dvds. She provides practice exercises, suggests various materials and provides a foundation for starting a rich, colorful design. Although this dvd focuses on acrylics, her dvd on watercolor is my favorite. Highly recommended. I wish she had workshops closer to my location. This approach can be added to your own designs as a part of your own repertoire.

What you get here is Linda's technique. Texture, layering values, transparency vs opacity and negative and positive spaces. Great for an intermediate painter or a newbie who wants to understand more about acrylic medium. I got a lot out of this tutorial and I have a masters degree in art. Worth the time. I liked this better then her book as sometimes you just have to see the person in action to understand the process. Not for someone who wants to paint from life or realistically. Perfect for someone who wants to add another skill to their paint box of techniques. Going to look up Linda's other dvds.

Linda Kemp's technique is very interesting. She does a very good job in teaching this. Just as you think no more depth can be developed - she does so. Nice way of painting!! I recommend it as this can be applied in different ways to other works.

She's just fantastic and makes learning this, for me difficult technique FUN.

The DVD was great - I was a bit surprised when it arrived, I was expecting a book for some odd reason.Linda's demonstrations were very clear and have me looking at my art processes differently.

Step by step instructions and a quality video made by a talented lady explaining her process from start to finish. Definitely will order more of her videos hoping they will offer some additional tips. Not sure if I would have wanted to try this as a beginner...perhaps more intermediate to advanced. Definitely worth it & very interesting.

Being a retired teacher, I can truly appreciate someone who is not only a very accomplished artist but also has the ability to clearly explain and demonstrate her artistic approach to watercolor and acrylics. Besides this DVD I also purchased 2 of her books that cover negative painting, color and design.

Okay film. She does wonderful paintings but leaves lots to be questioned. Not very easy to follow.

I learned a lot from this video. She shares a lot of what she does as she paints. Glad I purchased it. I bought it because she was painting with acrylics as it is my medium.

I'm a great fan of Linda's work, her books and DVD's offer easy to understand explanations and Simplifying Color is no exception. It concentrates on colour whilst giving a nod to her negative painting techniques, explaining concepts such as the difference between opaque and transparent, something I've found difficult to understand until now. Her explanation of the colour wheel and how to get the best from each colour is superb. A very good addition to any artists library.

i was surprised that the techniques shown were limited to just one painting. I'd have liked to see how you'd use a technique, say, a few different ways.

I made a mistake and ordered the DVD when I wanted the book. But I found it very well done she is a good teacher. And certainly knows what she is teaching,Good for beginners or advanced watercolrists.
