JUGGLING THE NUMBERS
Clever, humorous and well-written detective mystery targeted for late elementary and middle school readers. I must admit the plot kept me guessing and entertained. Chapters are short and easy to read. Pencil sketches are an added bonus. I particularly enjoyed the way that the authors found a way to integrate those dreaded hard to solve math word problems right into the story line. As a bonus, the reader is presented with a few more problems to solve at the conclusion of the mystery. They can check their answers on the authors’ website.Felix, Gertie, Stanley and Charlotte are a bright group of sixth graders who become interested in forming a detective agency. Using Felix’s tree house as a base of operations, Felix attempts to find out who is stealing his food from the kitchen by using his binoculars. When Charlotte brings a police scanner up to the house, they hear about an armed robbery at the local jewelry store. The budding detectives rush to the scene. They discover the owner Mr. Franklin has been hit on the head and his most valuable possession, the Claymore diamond, has been stolen. Police apprehend a suspect quickly, and the case appears closed. Our four young detectives believe otherwise; they refuse to quit until what had appeared obvious is revealed as erroneous.Lots of twists and turns in the plot. The characters are believable and authentic middle grade students. Readers will find themselves enjoying the math challenges that come along with the case. Great way to get students involved with math while reading. Look forward to reading new books in the series as they are released.

reminds me of Encyclopedia Brown
likes: Kids independently solve mysteries, work well together, think logically and each adds his/her unique skill and respects the others, references to scooby doo (my fave cartoon as a kid)dislikes: little dark at the beginning/end with the 'bad guys' who seem to be going to carry into the next in the series, rudeness/arrogance of one kid - confronting police chief superiorly and publicly with the 'right' information (I didn't care for this) really didn't care for that kid's arrogance another time either but he's not a bad kid just I dunno. also not sure how much was actually math other than the timeline of events but it was a good storyline.

Fun mystery
This is a spin on a Scooby Do mystery where the kids check the facts and use math as a logic check. So it tries to change attitudes about math with a fun story. It’s a quick read that fans of Encyclopedia Brown should enjoy.

My grandson's wish there were more books!
Three of our grandsons love to read and they are very good at Math. I purchased the first book for each of them and each grandson liked it so much that they have completed the series. They each wanted more stories to read.

Not as challenging
I bought this book for my 10 year old grandson who loves to read and loves math. In all fairness, he does read a lot and is in advanced math classes. He thought the book was "okay" but thought it was easy to figure out.

Loved The Storyline
I loved the storyline and so did my students. My only complaint is that the AR trst for this book was very difficult for their age level, yet the book didnt seem hard.

Making the impossible possible with Maths
When your children ask when am I ever going to use mathematics in life? Well this book proves that maths is great while you follow around Sherlock Homes but with the secret weapon of numbers and fractions. It's a great way to sneak maths into reading for children

I give four stars as I enjoyed the bits I read but I had a few problems with reading soe of the words read the rest of my review to get more imformation thanks!!!
Not a bad book but I couldn't read a few of the words as they were blurry and when you can't read a few of the words in the book the story doesn't make much sense so I couldn't understand a little bit of the story but I am still giving four stars for this book because it was a great book (I couldn't read some parts of the book but I liked the bits I read.) and I really enjoyed it. I highly recomend this book and I hope you enjoy it too if you read it. Thanks so much for reading my review I hope you enjoyed it and now have all the imformation about the book that you needed thank you!!!!!!!
