Remember crayons? Remember being up close and personal with your art work? Remember how much fun that was? It's a very visceral sensation when you use these. The colors are intense, the paint is smooth, you can't beat the clean up. I use them directly on the canvas as well as with a brush. I've used them for the last ten years, they're just great.

Shiva Paintstiks are great, but need to be labeled!

I LOVE those, they are so oily and such a pleasure to draw with, also I really like the smell they have^^They are a bit messy, so get some olive oil and dishsoap ready because otherwise you will have a really hard time removing them from your fingers. Put the oil first on your hands, rub them together, rinse a bit and then put some dishsoap to wash the rest off. They are self "sealing", which mean that they will make up they own "skin" back to prevent them from drying : perfect!

These oil paint sticks are everything they claim to be and I was immediately thrilled with my purchase. I bought two different sets for toning and quickly laying in my backgrounds for use under oil pastels as well as pastel pencils. There is a slight initial odor which dissipates after a time. The self sealing film is easily removed off of the sticks and the paints dry quickly depending on the level of layering - a thin layer will dry in the stated 24 hours, but several layers requires a few days. They can be manipulated by brush, palette knife and fingers. :-) I love them!!!

Absolutely loved this oil sticks! As an oil painter I typically use palette knives for impasto style, but I love these to sketch the under painting or just give a shape to the piece. I ordered two sets and can’t wait to get the rest of the colors!
