Verify compatibility first
This particular MHL-to-HDMI adapter doesn't work with a Galaxy Tab A SM-T387V (2018 8.0" 32GB LTE).At least, I was never able to get it working. The smart TV recognized a new media device but I was never able to get a display/picture on any HDMI input. I'm fairly sure I installed/connected in the proper order. Just put it away and figured I'd better research better next time. MHL can be hit or miss from what I've seen.

When I plugged in charger and phone kept saying water detected and it was not on or has it ever been wet bought a second just to make sure it did the same thing
